The scent of cookies wafts through the house,
and some cupboards are off-limits.
It feels like Christmas, as everyone knows,
and the gifts are neatly arranged. We look forward to children’s laughter
and to a few days—quiet and still;
bringing joy to others now and then,
that is what we want. Christmas cards come drifting in
from every direction;
most of them, as they should be,
from loved ones and relatives. With that in mind, I wish you all a lovely Advent season filled with a reflective pre-Christmas mood,
