"Crochet Therapy" is a bit of a unique name, I know. But that’s exactly what crocheting is for me: therapy. I’ve been more or less sick for years. My body just can’t cope with the EB virus (just a side note for those with a medical background...). So I’m actually exhausted from morning to night. But what works well for me is crocheting. I lie there half-upright on the sofa and crochet. At least that way I’m doing something meaningful. It’s good for my mental health. I can only recommend it to everyone!

Hi, I’ll go first :-) and would like to briefly introduce myself.
My name is Marion, and I’m known as Wollopus through my patterns. I learned to crochet and knit when I was 5 years old (and that was a long time ago—about half a century) from my mother, who learned it from her mother, and so on. Since then, yarn and handicrafts have been an integral part of my life. (Motto: not without my yarn...)
I’m not sure whether I prefer crocheting or knitting—it changes every few months—which is why you’ll find both in my shop. I have just one problem with handicrafts… I always come up with so many other designs that I can barely keep up with making them.
Well, I hope you like what I make—come visit me sometime ;-)

Hi, I’m Michaela. I was born in 1972 and have been knitting and crocheting for almost my entire life. My mother taught me my first stitches when I was 6 years old. Since then, I’ve practically never put my needles down. I love watching a ball of yarn transform into something beautiful, useful, and wearable. That’s why, for several years now, I’ve been designing knitting and crochet patterns for scarves and shawls with that special something. Varied designs. Knitting and crochet fun, a sense of accomplishment, and compliments guaranteed! :-)

The name “Wollness-Oase” came to me because I always feel at ease with beautiful yarn in my hands, and knitting and crocheting are a form of wellness for me. :-)

In addition to designing patterns, I love photography, as well as my husband and my sweet little dog, Flocke. :-)

my name is Sabine. I was born in 1967 and have been doing crafts ever since I learned how—so for ages—and I wanted to become a crafts teacher. But my oldest daughter kind of got in the way of that.
So I knitted and sewed for my kids instead. I rarely crocheted in the past, until I discovered amigurumi.... Since then, I’ve loved crocheting :-) and, according to my family, I do it all the time.

Crocheting relaxes me—and with my large family, I really need that :-) Plus, for me, it’s therapy for my joints, and when I maintain the right posture, my spinal discs thank me... and all without a prescription fee. It lets me be creative, go wild with colors, and fulfill the wishes of my children, grandchildren, and nieces—what more could a woman ask for?

How did I come up with my name? I’d long been the family’s knitting and crochet mouse. The name had been taken countless times, so I quickly added the name of the place where I live to the front, and presto—there I was :-)

I’m Jana (Jana-Verena, but that’s another story). I was born in 1945 and live in Basel (CH). I learned to knit in school. Handicrafts was my favorite subject. I then learned how to knit properly from my mom. Later on, with a family of my own, I really put those skills to good use. But once hand-knitted items weren’t so popular at school anymore—smile—knitting was really only possible in the evenings, after the kids were in bed. That’s when I’d practice knitting in front of the TV.  I absolutely love knitting socks.

Now I’ve joined CP, and I think it’s a great thing.

When I’m in my hobby room, I can really unwind. Turn on some music and knit—then the world is just right for me.

Oh, how lovely - now you finally get to know who’s behind the profile!

I’m Tina (who would’ve guessed? ;)), born in 1991, and I’m from the Black Forest.
  I always crochet in my free time when I’m not at work (sales job), doing sports, or otherwise out and about.
I’m also the adoptive mum of 2 cats, who both love (yarrrn!) and hate (because I get so absorbed in it) this hobby
. Unfortunately, I can’t knit, sew, or do anything else like that - I’m just hopeless at it.
But when it comes to crocheting, I absolutely love trying everything out! And that’s exactly why I ended up here with my patterns :-)

my name is Inna. I was born in 1968, grew up in Kazakhstan (formerly the USSR), and have been living in Baden-Württemberg for almost 25 years.
Although I did crafts as a child and later with or for my daughter, it wasn’t until I started working with older schoolchildren—and faced the need to offer them something more challenging to craft than little chestnut figures, coupled with the lack of options in this area—that I was inspired to come up with something on my own and discovered just how much fun it is. I studied art education and technical drawing in Kazakhstan, computer graphics in Germany, and through my work as a recreation instructor, I returned to crafting—so eventually, everything fell into place.
Although everything I learned and did was originally meant for something other than creating craft templates, it now feels totally logical and right—as if that’s exactly how it had been planned from the very beginning :-).

My name is Doreen and I’m 38 years young. If someone had told me 5 years ago that I’d one day be crocheting, I probably would have just laughed at them.

Almost 2 years ago, my son really wanted those Loom Bands to make crafts with. Okay, so we did. I ended up making the most beautiful things out of them—even little animals. Then I discovered that you could do the same with yarn. “Great,” I thought, “this is exactly my thing.” And so I started crocheting using other beautiful patterns—and it totally hooked me. A great passion was ignited. Since then, I’ve been absolutely thrilled and almost addicted to crocheting.
  Now I’m creating my own little projects and would like to share them with you. I hope you have lots of fun browsing, and I hope to make you happy with one crochet pattern or another.

Until now, I’ve rarely been able to stick with things for very long, even when I was really excited about them at first.  With crocheting, I’ve finally found something I want to stick with—not something I have to. It feels really good. Unfortunately, my husband isn’t too thrilled about it. He probably thought I’d give it up again in no time. Well, now he just has to deal with it. Because it makes me happy and is simply part of my life now.

I’m one of the grandmas here. I used to do crafts, crochet, and knit for my children (puppets, dolls, stuffed animals, doll furniture, doll clothes, etc.), though always from patterns. And now I’ve started doing it for my grandchildren (there are three of them now).

And because they sometimes have very specific requests, I started designing things myself. I quickly realized that crocheting is the easiest for me, because you can immediately see how the shape changes. (With knitting, you only see that once you take the work off the needle.)

My daughter was the one who suggested that I could also sell the patterns. She said it would be a shame if others couldn’t benefit from my ideas.

And yes, admittedly, the name “ruthk” isn’t very original, but I had an account here as a customer under that name and didn’t change it when I started my shop. And now that I already have a few customers, I don’t really want to change it anymore.

I’m still one of the smaller designers—I haven’t had great success (yet?), but that’s not really so important to me. I’m happy about every pattern that sells and hope that more and more people will like them.

I feel very comfortable here on CP because people stay in touch with one another—with customers and with other designers—and because I feel well looked after by the team here. I’m not a salesperson, and all that business stuff gets on my nerves. So I’m glad that all of that is taken care of for me here. Thank you very much for that.

I’m Sabine (SABSE) from Sabses Sweeties, born in ’69, “not yet” a grandma :-), I make all kinds of things, and aside from a few things I haven’t tried yet (bobbin lace, spinning wool), I can actually do pretty much anything—painting, sculpting, wooden puzzles, upcycling, welding, paper art, knitting, knotting, embroidery, extreme pom-poms...
Right now, crocheting is my thing—for how long? We’ll see.... I’m an Aquarius, which means making the same thing 20 times isn’t really my thing… once, and then on to the next, please… that’s how I became a designer—I don’t need to make things a zillion times (unless my family orders them for Christmas -.-)
I create my own designs for freestanding wooden puzzles featuring dog breeds, as well as cross-stitch pictures.
I can always whip up a quick craft project (I have everything I need on hand—much to my family’s chagrin, or perhaps to their delight). I love my Cameo machine and never have enough time for all my projects.
I love animals more than anything… I’m currently breeding Kleinrex rabbits, which also go by the name Sabses Sweeties! I also run a website about rabbits—Kanin Hop and much more.
As a crocheter, I blog about all the things I make—including designs by other designers (with proper credit, of course)—and sometimes I just play World of Warcraft or League of Legends…
I love horror and Halloween. So my favorite TV shows are pretty obvious: The Walking Dead, Supernatural, Lucifer, Game of Thrones, The Originals, Fear the Walking Dead, Lost Girl, Vikings, etc....

My name is Nina, I just turned 38, I’ll be a mom of four starting in December, I’m married, a dog mom, and I’ve always been crazy about handicrafts.
“ZwergnaseBär” has been the name of my label for almost 6 years now...back then I still had 2 children, the older one of whom was called “Zwergnase” very early on (actually unfair, because she always had a little button nose....*laugh*) and the one who is now the middle child was always “Mr. Bear”...that’s how “ZwergnaseBär” came about.

My great-aunt taught me to knit when I was about 6, and I learned to crochet around the same time from my great-grandma and my grandma.
Even as a child I always had a brimful little basket of yarn - that hasn’t changed to this day.
Through the children I got back into handicrafts “with a vengeance,” sewing, crocheting, crafting...
And because at some point other people’s ideas were no longer “enough,” I started developing my own patterns. I set myself and my patterns the goal of explaining things as precisely as possible, giving beginners the opportunity to make great crocheted pieces (and, on a small scale, sewn items too). Of course, I very much hope that my patterns meet these standards.
I’m also always looking for new challenges....I can crochet, I can knit, I can embroider, I can craft, I can work with wood...what I absolutely want to learn one day (and will) is bobbin lace!

Hi, I’m Annika. I’m 27 years old now, and I started crocheting about 10 years ago. At first, I’d crochet just one item at a time (a scarf, a keychain, etc.) and then take a break for months at a time. But when I started again about 2 or 3 years ago, I couldn’t stop.

It all started, though, when my little brother wanted to learn how to crochet. So Mom took us out and bought each of us a crochet hook and a ball of yarn. The goal was for everyone to make a scarf for a stuffed animal. Well, I managed it without any trouble right from the start, but my brother’s scarf was quite the challenge ;). Anyway, my mom and my grandma discovered my talent when I was in the middle of creating my very first pattern: the owl keychain. At first, I could only crochet in rows, but for the eyes, I had no choice but to turn to YouTube to teach myself how to crochet in the round.

But the real appeal of learning to crochet was the book *70 Funny Crochet Animals*: My grandma received it as a gift from a friend at least 20 years ago because the friend couldn’t figure out the patterns herself. And of course, I wanted every single one. But despite all my pleading and begging, my grandma never made me a single one. :( Supposedly, the reason was, “If others can’t even do it, then it’s not possible.” Well, long story short, I figured out the patterns despite the translation errors and have finished the first 7 animals so far. *Ha!*

But why amigurumi, specifically? It’s simple—the term comes from Japan, and I love anime. It all started with the anime *Inuyasha*. The female lead is named Kagome, which translates to: “braided bamboo pattern,” “triangular weave,” “connection between two worlds,” and the children’s game “Kagome Kagome.” It kind of fits, doesn’t it? ;)

My name is Annette Aue, and I am—as much as possible and with all my heart—a full-time textile artist. Textile crafts run like a thread through my life. Inspired and taught by my two grandmothers from a very early age, I first sewed, knitted, and crocheted for my Barbies and dolls; a little later, I started doing the same for myself, and then my career path naturally followed this direction. I’ve been self-employed for many years now, have written patterns for various fashion magazines, and about two years ago decided to devote myself entirely to my own creative projects. And there are two passions in my heart: on the one hand, my love of knitting (mostly, with occasional forays into crocheting), and on the other, my love of textile art. And since I can’t keep my hands off either, I have to manage the daily balancing act between the two. I really enjoy experimenting with a wide variety of techniques and always try—even with simple patterns—to incorporate some special touch. I often spend a long time fine-tuning both the design and the patterns so that anyone can recreate the pieces as easily as possible. So now I hope you’ll feel inspired to make one or two of these pieces—have fun!

ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved spending evenings on the couch with my mom, embroidering, knitting, and crocheting together with her. Over the years, I developed other interests and had little time for crafts. With the birth of my daughter, my passion for crocheting was reignited. And so I began crocheting sweaters, scarves, hats, and toys for her. Crocheting toys brings me the most joy, which is why I’ve focused mainly on that.

My hobby has turned into a passion that I’m happy to share with you :-)

I’ve been with CP for a while, but I’ve only recently started putting my designs on paper and publishing patterns.

Hello, my name is Waltraud (Traudelina)—born in 1963. I originally worked in secretarial and office roles and had only made a few sporadic attempts at knitting in earlier years—with limited success.

After the 2008–2009 economic crisis, the working world was no longer what I knew or wanted. Around that time, I got the idea to try knitting socks and, without further ado, learned from my aunt how to knit the heel. It was pure relaxation, and lo and behold, the results were even good enough to give away as gifts ;-). From then on, I couldn’t walk past a yarn shop without stopping.... I just wished for my very own tiny little yarn shop. And that’s how it all began—with 22 square meters of retail space in October 2011. In the meantime, it has grown to 80 square meters (not entirely by choice—but that’s a longer story). On top of that, my customers wanted patterns for my knitted or crocheted display pieces. Well, the things we do! Then, in 2015, a customer came in with a printed pattern from CP in her hand and wanted the matching yarn. So I Googled this platform, discovered it for myself, and stuck around. The patterns by the other authors were really great. I wondered if I’d even stand a chance there with my simple designs, but then I thought, “Well, at worst, you could always sell a pattern,” and “Practice makes perfect.” So, I keep practicing more and more—writing patterns and everything else. And it’s fun :-)

While we’re at it, Josefa, I’d also love to learn a little bit about the CP team. I haven’t seen an “ABOUT US” page or anything like that here yet.

Hello everyone out there,
My name is Dany, and sometimes people call me the cat auntie. I was born in 1964 and I’m absolutely crazy about crafts *laughs*
A few days ago, I discovered CP, and I’m now in the process of uploading some of my embroidery files—which I digitize myself—to the store.
I actually live in Switzerland, but I’m currently in Lapland (Sweden). My husband, I, and our two cats, Djego and Natasha, have dropped out—that is, we sold our house, loaded up the caravan and bus, and now want to travel through Europe. Here and there, whatever suits us. Right now we’re in Lapland because we’ve fallen in love with this corner of Sweden. We plan to stay for a total of one year—we’ve already been here for 8 months. Since October, we’ve been living in a small Swedish house. Starting in May, we’ll be back living entirely in the caravan. Then, after a visit to Switzerland, we’ll head back to Lapland. We don’t know yet what comes after that. Italy? France?
So we’re vagabonds *laughs*. In my old life, I did a lot of sewing, knitting, crocheting, and embroidery digitizing. My sewing machine is now sleeping in a storage room in Switzerland. I brought my beloved embroidery machine with me, and of course, yarn and supplies.
Phew, that was a lot.

My name is Dagmar, I’m 40 years old, and I’m from beautiful Lower Austria.
I’m a mom to two very lively kids, the wife of a very loving husband, and the owner of a little Beagle mix.
I used to do a little crafting here and there even before I had kids. Ever since my Peter was born, I’ve discovered that holding a needle and some yarn really helps calm my nerves.
My son is full of energy, and his sister is every bit his match—and that’s exactly what I love about them!

I crochet everything my kids ask me to make. And their imaginations know no bounds. Unfortunately, my fingers aren’t as fast as their thoughts. Maybe that’s partly because of my full-time job.

But I do my best and make sure I always have a craft project nearby.

I’m 69 years old and live with my partner and our dachshund Henri in Nienburg on the Weser
About 30 years ago, knitting was my biggest hobby, but unfortunately I did it less and less over time......
But suddenly, the “addiction” is back in full force!
I knitted socks for my sweetheart (the heel drove me crazy), and I just finished a beanie for our grandchild, a sweet little girl.
Now I’m working on a loop scarf for myself.

Hello everyone,

I’m not usually the type to post much in online communities, but I’d like to introduce myself here.

My name is Sandra, I’m 33 years old, and I started getting into sewing a few weeks ago.

My husband has been sewing for our medieval hobby for several years now. And our son loves to dress up. Since the costumes he wants are either very expensive as ready-made costumes or often not available at all, and my husband can no longer sew due to his illness, I decided to start sewing myself.

But before I venture into making actual costumes, I started with “smaller items” like reading pillows or beanies to familiarize myself with the technique itself. “Unfortunately,” I’ve discovered that sewing is actually addictive. :D

So I’m hoping to find plenty of inspiration here—and some help if I have any questions.

I’m excited to be here and wish you all a relaxing and creative weekend.
