Bird of the Year 2017 = Tawny Owl = an owl (not a promotional thread)

the Bird of the Year 2017 is a species of owl, the tawny owl.

I like these quiet nocturnal creatures with their big eyes.....

We live very close to the city forest, where a few little owls live, and I’m always happy when I hear them hooting at night.
:-)
Unfortunately, I haven’t seen one yet.
But I did see a real eagle owl once! That doesn’t happen every day. 

I like them too; I think they’re a very special kind of owl.
