Dear community,
what do you do with yarn / fabrics that you no longer want to keep?
You can find beautiful patterns for using yarn and fabrics here.
I usually just store most of it until I come up with an idea for it, but I’ve also swapped packages of yarn at a swap group, and right now I sometimes have people with grandkids who can put it to good use. Though that does remind me of a yellow lace fabric I really won’t be using anymore (why do I even own it???).... 🤣
That doesn’t happen to me very often. No matter how long the yarn sits around, I’m convinced that eventually I’ll be able to put it to good use.
I reorganize my yarn regularly so I get to see it every now and then. And eventually, I’ll start working with it.
I donated a large bag full of acrylic yarn to the church’s craft group, and they were very happy to receive it.
I’ve got some yarn lying around here, too… I bought it because it looked nice and felt nice. And I’m sure that someday this yarn will find a use, too ;-)
No, unfortunately I don’t have any acrylic yarn at all.
Unfortunately, I don’t have this yarn either, and I couldn’t find anything online (revalry).
Fingers crossed for you
Thanks anyway
Thanks for keeping your fingers crossed—hopefully it helps
Unfortunately, I don’t have any of that either.
Thanks for checking it out!
We have a secondhand store here that’s happy to accept fabrics and wool.
I’ve often helped out kindergartens and schools with these items so they don’t have to buy them.
Unfortunately, I have a few yarn cakes whose colors didn’t appeal to me as much on delivery as I’d expected. I definitely won’t be using them—they’re just taking up space. If anyone has suggestions for what I could do with them, I’d appreciate it. They don’t have a color gradient; they’re mottled instead.
I’d love to hear your ideas.
Warm regards, Karoline 💕
Our neighborhood center has a sewing and knitting group. Since I’ve already been given or inherited a lot of craft supplies, I’ve donated quite a few fabrics, yarn, buttons, sewing supplies, and needles that I had more than enough of there, as well as an old sewing machine. The local sports club also has a knitting group. The ladies who participate also knit for charitable causes and are happy to receive donations of yarn. I also asked at the yarn shop and found out that Oxfam gladly accepts such donations. They’ll be next on my list.
Woolly regards
Irene
For wool, I give it to the building manager. She knits hats, scarves, and things like that for children at the children’s home. Even leftovers are always welcome there.
As for fabrics, I have a coworker who uses them either for his own costumes or for the children’s theater group.
As for crochet yarn, my friend might come by now and then if she needs some for a project and can’t get it anywhere else.
So everything finds a home.😁🤩
Best regards, Marieclaire
Veronika, couldn’t you incorporate it into a shirt? On the side or at the back/front as an eye-catcher?
Karoline, as a rug? Take a look at Ina’s, spool-knitted rug.
Best,
Anja
Oh yes, that’s a great tip, Anja! Thank you 💕
This rug is really beautiful. And then I saw Ina’s round rug... I fell in love with it right away. 😅
Straight onto the to-do list!
That’s how it is for all of us, isn’t it?
Warm regards, Karoline
I had some yarn that felt too cheap to me, and I’m 100% sure I won’t use it. But I didn’t want to burden anyone else with it either. I’m dropping it off at the preschool. They’ll be happy to have it. They’ll use it to make pictures held together with lots of glue—and it would be a waste to use good-quality yarn for that anyway. Same goes for fabric scraps.
