Dear Community,
The Handicrafts Group on the forum has been a little quiet lately. Would you like to share your current projects?

Hi Josefa,
it’s great that you’re bringing the Handicraft Group back to the forefront. Sometimes things just get pushed further and further to the back, and before you know it, you’re no longer on anyone’s radar.

I’m currently sewing fitted tablecloths for my round tables. It’s a lot of fun, and the fabrics really get to show off their full beauty. I’m also working on a blog post about it at the same time, but anyone interested is welcome to take a look:

Best regards, Ina

Yeah, things have gotten a bit quiet. Thanks for the “nudge,” Josefa 🤗

Ina, that mandala blanket is absolutely gorgeous—I’d take it in a heartbeat!

I’m currently working on a baby blanket; I love the colors—and the yarn is so soft and cozy, too; it feels great to knit with.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone, and warm regards
Sonja

Liebe Sonja,

Great idea, Ina. I’ll keep that in mind for my future little balcony table.

Thank you so much, Ina. It’s such a shame that this designer no longer offers these fabrics—they really are something special. At least you’ve now beautifully preserved these gems and can enjoy them every day!

The yarn is Merino 200 Bébé by Lang Yarns (color 155.0554). I sometimes have a hard time with 100% merino because it’s often described as “soft,” but personally, I don’t find it soft at all. But this one is really cozy.

I hope you all have a great weekend—hopefully you’re enjoying some lovely sunshine too ☀️

Warm regards
Sonja

Hello Ina,
maybe Shweshwe fabrics would be an alternative for you, e.g. on this page: ****Link removed, mod****
However, I first had to wash the fabrics that my sisters-in-law brought me from South Africa before I could work with them.
Best regards
Christiane

Hi,

I’m currently working on three crochet projects at once—I need a little variety. 🤪

A granny sweater—this is my third time making it, using this pattern.
The yellow one is going to be a jacket, using a pattern from a magazine, and the green one is also a jacket, using a pattern from another platform.
The jackets are meant to go with my dresses.

As for sewing, I’m making another heart-shaped pillow—I love having them in bed. They’re comfortable for your neck, under your arm, or between your knees. I’m good at making them, and they go together quickly.
They’re actually support pillows for breast cancer patients. I actually sewed the last one for a neighbor’s mother:

And I’m sewing a parrot:

But I’m not really making much progress.
First because of health issues, now because of a lack of motivation.

Liebe Christiane, vielen Dank für den Tipp zum Stoff. Ich kannte "Shweshwe Stoffe" bisher gar nicht. Aber das Internet kennt sie. Tolle Muster!

Yes, Petra, you’re right. Your granny squares really come into their own when grouped together. But I can’t look at them for too long—it makes me dizzy. But you love things as colorful as possible, so that suits you perfectly. Before you can see the overall effect, though, you have to crochet a lot of identical granny squares—but you do that in your sleep :-)

Best regards, Ina

Liebe Ina, deine Tischdecken sind wunderschön. So schön bunt.

Oh Claudia, you’ve got quite a few projects to tackle there. I’m curious to see your solutions—especially your heart. Your concrete pieces are truly one-of-a-kind.

I like your shirt; the pink one looks breezy, perfect for summer. It’s sure to become a favorite.

I’d actually been interested in this and was just about to ask.

Thanks for the tip.

@Fun-Design

Ina, I’m still trying to make something out of the materials I have on hand.
I just have way too much of it... But I’m also learning a lot in the process—for example, which fabrics go well together and how differently various materials can be sewn.
I find that really exciting.
And especially with scraps like these, it’s actually no big deal if it doesn’t turn out right.
Then I can always use it as stuffing.

I’ve also finished casting my crocheted heart made from thick polyacrylic yarn in concrete.
A friend had brought me the red yarn—it was pretty thick, but there wasn’t really much of it.
It was almost enough for one heart; I was missing a few rounds at the end...
But after stuffing it, I didn’t think the result looked that great—the stitches were just too coarse.
So I decided to use concrete and turned it into a pretty outdoor decoration.

Liebe Claudia,

First of all, thank you.

I told you about my sister’s old, dirty yarn.
I wound it into skeins, washed it, and then wound it back into balls.

It was worth it; the yarn came out nice and clean.

10 balls with 110 m / 50 g each, which isn’t exactly a small amount—but for my size, it’s not all that much either.
So I crocheted another top-down raglan cardigan from it.
First the sleeves, and then the body as long as the yarn would allow.

I think it turned out well, even though I would have liked it to be a bit longer.

There’s also a matching fabric from my sister’s stash lying around here... I’ve already unpacked the sewing machine 😍.

The jacket turned out beautifully.
Can I let you in on a little secret? I’ve never dared to crochet RVO from the top before. Knitting is no problem for me. I also prefer to knit sweaters and jackets. I don’t really like crocheting big items—as I said, I’d rather wield my knitting needles ;-).

Hi everyone,
Wow—what amazing things are being created here—it’s incredible.

I used to just crochet (even sweaters sometimes), but for the past 2–3 years I’ve been switching back to knitting more; I find it somehow “finer.”  I knitted a shawl from a book using modal and Per Fortuna scraps, and since I still have plenty of scraps left, I made another one in blue right after that
These days, I’m constantly working on “little” projects for my granddaughter—socks, hats, ...

I just can’t seem to get an even stitch pattern—as soon as I set a piece aside and pick it up later, the stitch pattern looks completely different. And I actually prefer knitted clothes…
I don’t have this problem when crocheting.

I sewed a simple dress from my sister’s fabric, and I’m thrilled with how well it goes with the little jacket.
We were at the garden center together this afternoon, and my sister fell in love with the set when I showed it to her.
Well, now I guess I’ll have to make myself something new…
There’s still plenty of fabric lying around.

Claudia, your dress looks great. I’m sure it’s very comfortable. And your awesome jacket is the perfect complement.

When I knit in the round, my stitch pattern turns out much nicer and more even. You can really see it on my pants. The legs were knitted in rows, and the top was knitted in the round.

Claudia, maybe a RVO would be an option for you—you always knit in rounds there. Unfortunately, the stitch pattern here is uneven due to the yarn, so it’s not a good example :-)

Hallo,

Ergebnis gespannt

Hi everyone,
I’m currently crocheting a custom order—my “Wandelstück.”
This time I’m using thicker yarn and a thicker crochet hook. I’m excited to see how it turns out 🥰🧶

Hi everyone,

I’m really impressed by everything you’re making! These are truly amazing pieces and such great inspiration!
I’m currently knitting the Dia de los Muertos socks by Pandamasche-Anika_Grobe from this site, with a few slight modifications. One is already finished, and the second one is almost at the heel. I love the colorful yarn (from Ponderosa, which unfortunately no longer exists 😭)!
Have a great day,
Katrin

@Katrin – wow, your socks are awesome. Both the skulls—amazing—and the stripes on the soles. Are you working slipped stitches here?

I’ve finished my first summer shawl. 50 grams from my stash—99% cotton—I love this yarn

The color isn’t quite my style, but I’m sure this shawl will find a new home by the next market day at the latest.

I’m always searching forever for the craft group—wasn’t it pinned nicely at the top before?

I just clicked that “Watchlist” arrow… but where is it?
I thought that would get me to the group faster…

I’ve made these “wind spinners” too—they look great on your tree. Unfortunately, mine are sitting in the closet; I only have a balcony and haven’t found the right spot for them yet. Maybe I’ll just give them away.

Today I finished the toilet paper roll hat using this pattern: https://www.crazypatterns.net/de/items/101503/klorollenhut-madame-de-toilette. Unfortunately, I’m not really happy with it, so I’ll give it another try in a different color.
I think it’s just too big for the toilet paper rolls available now—they’re getting smaller and smaller these days (oh dear)—so I’ll probably have to adjust the circumference and height :-).
