Dear community,

sometimes it’s the tiniest things that bring the biggest smiles ✨ A tiny keychain, a cute bookmark, a mini flower, a crocheted lucky pig that fits in the palm of your hand – or maybe even an amigurumi that’s smaller than your thumb?

Our new campaign is all about your mini masterpieces! Show us your small projects that prove it’s all about love for the details! 💛

Whether finished or freshly made, crocheted, knitted, sewn, or crafted – the main thing is MINI.

✂️ How to take part:

Simply post a reply in this thread with the following info:

Motif / Title: [What is it? e.g., “Mini strawberry as a keychain”]
Technique: [Crochet / Knitting / Sewing / Crafting / Mix]
How small is it? [e.g., “Fits in a matchbox!” or size in cm]
Short story (2–4 sentences): [Who was it for? What inspired you? Why this particular mini project?]
Photos: [At least 1 photo – TIP: Place an everyday object next to it for size comparison! 🪙 e.g., a coin, a match, a finger, or a teacup. That makes the best photos!]

📋 The rules:

  • All handmade techniques are welcome (crochet, knitting, sewing, crafting, embroidery, macramé…)
  • The project should be “mini” – as a rough guide: max. 15 cm on the longest side (exceptions allowed if it “feels mini” 😄)
  • Already finished AND new projects are allowed
  • Original designs AND projects made from a pattern count
  • Please like the posts you like best
  • Prize: €100 Crazypatterns store credit 🎉
  • Duration: until March 22, 2026
  • Feel free to share the campaign on your social media channels!

💡 Need inspiration? Here are a few ideas for what “mini” can be:

  • Keychains & bag charms
  • Mini amigurumi (animals, characters, food)
  • Bookmarks
  • Doll clothes & doll accessories
  • Pincushions
  • Earrings, brooches & small jewelry
  • Mini flowers & mini plants
  • Finger puppets
  • Lucky charms & small little gifts
  • Miniature decor (gnome doors, tiny baskets, mini pillows…)
  • Phone cases & small pouches
  • Appliqués & patches

There are no limits to your creativity! 😉

📸 Photo tip for a wow effect:

Place your mini project next to an everyday object so everyone can immediately see how small it is. This could be:
→ a 1-euro coin
→ a ruler
→ your hand
→ a teacup
→ a pen
That’s how you get photos that will make everyone instantly say, “Oh, how cute!” 🥰

🥇 🥈 🥉 The winners will be determined as usual:

  • Community Choice: 3 × €20 = €60 (The 3 posts with the most likes win)
  • Jury Picks: 2 × €10 = €20 (Jury = Operator and Moderator)
  • Random selection: 2 × €10 = €20 (2 participating posts will be chosen at random)

We’re incredibly excited to see which little treasures you have hidden away in your drawers or what you’ll still create before the campaign ends. Remember: Even the smallest thing can be the biggest when it’s made with heart! 🫶

Don’t forget to like your favorites and share the campaign with your craft-loving friends!

Have fun and good luck!
Your Crazypatterns Team 🎀

Mini owls - great as keychains or bag charms
Crochet
The owls are
about 5 x 3 cm small
I crocheted these mini owls quite some time ago. That year, owls in all shapes were trending. Since I don’t like parting with even small bits of leftover yarn, the idea came to me quickly.

Keychain
Rainbow, 9 cm wide

A friend of mine is marrying his partner in April and wanted little favors for the guests, so I crocheted these rainbows.
What could be more fitting for a gay couple?

Small and even smaller moments of happiness :-)

The keychain on the left is crocheted with Catania yarn and a 2.5 mm hook and turned out to be about 8 cm tall.
Then I found some great filet yarn and crocheted the lucky charm with a 1.5 mm hook.
The little guy ended up being about 5 cm tall.

It was a birthday gift for a friend who’s an avid baker and seamstress.

Hier noch etwas Lustiges:
Motiv / Titel:
 mein lustiges Aquarium

Size: HxW 5x7 cm
Story:

Motif: Amigurumi mice
Technique: Crochet
Size: 11 cm
Story:
A few years ago, the show “JoNaLu” aired on KIKA. My grandchildren were big fans of this series and asked me to crochet the characters for them to play with. Soon after, the larger figures (about 20 cm) had to be the parents, and they wanted children too. So I crocheted them in mini format (11 cm). Now the family was complete, and my grandchildren were happy! Grandma was too!

I really love crocheting little keychains and enjoy all the little possibilities they offer. Since I live in Thuringia, I thought to myself the other day... why not make a commemorative keychain...

Materials: Filet crochet yarn, hook size 1.5
Crocheting is fun; sewing it together is just part of the process ;0)

Motiv / Titel: Babyschuhe
Technik: Stricken

key chains, crocheted with hooks between 0.75 and 2 mm, measure between 1.5 and 5 cm; the business card used for size comparison is 5 x 8 cm;
made without patterns—I always carried them with me as a small token of appreciation for my very own everyday heroes, such as bus drivers who stopped for people in a hurry, people who helped others, older people who were delighted to chat, children who needed comfort, parents who spent time with their kids instead of looking at their phones, ....

Little Penny Mouse
Crocheted with leftover yarn—in this case, cotton

Did you have a little mouse of your own too? Mine was made of red leather 😃, so my little mouse had to be red too, and now it serves as my keychain. That way, I always have a little change on me. Sometimes it also holds the pills I need.

Technique: Crochet
How small is it? approx. 11 cm
Short story (2–4 sentences): Cockroaches are considered incredibly resilient. They find their way anywhere and simply don’t give up. Somehow that also reminds me of us in everyday working life – of colleagues who persevere, find solutions, and keep going even in stressful times. So this little charm can also be a small reminder: stay strong, keep going, and don’t lose your sense of humor. 🪳✨

Technique: Crocheted with cotton yarn 280m/50g
How small is it? Hen's egg size
Short story (2–4 sentences):
I love colorful Easter eggs. I used to paint them, for example in the style of Sorbian eggs; today they get a “crochet coat.” They serve as decorations on an Easter bouquet, adorn string lights, or decorate the Easter basket. Most are given away and bring a little joy to others too.

Title: The Red Panda - My First Miniature Project

Technique: Crocheted with a 1mm hook and lace yarn, in this case Rainbow Lace by Hobbii

How small is it? The panda is 14 cm long in total and fits perfectly in my hand

Short story: I’ve long been fascinated by mini and micro crochet projects, since I’ve also painted miniatures as a hobby and am always drawn to small challenges. When I crocheted the pattern in chenille back in January, I thought I’d finally try my hand at a mini version using lace yarn. Since I had the right yarn at home, I got right to work and actually crocheted with a 1mm hook for the first time. It was definitely a challenge—just embroidering the eyes took me several tries—but I’m soooo proud of it.

Title: Squirrel for Hörnchen

Technique: Crocheted with a 1 mm hook and Scheepjes Maxi Sugarrush

Pattern: The pattern is from Nadelkunsthandmade

How small is it?  The squirrel is about 5 cm tall

Short story: Since I’ve been so excited about mini crocheting, I quickly came up with the idea of crocheting a mini version matching her nickname for a friend’s birthday. We always affectionately call her “Hörnchen” because she’s full of joie de vivre and a thirst for discovery. So I combed through my collection of books and magazines as well as my patterns, and finally settled on the squirrel from Nadelkunsthandmade. At first, I faced various challenges, whether it was getting the eye placement right or figuring out the sitting position. But the result turned out wonderfully—see for yourself!

If you’d like to showcase mini-projects in the forum even after the challenge ends, feel free to do so in this thread. Since the Sock Challenge is already underway, I’m closing the thread for the Mini-Project Challenge here to avoid any confusion between the challenges. Have fun, everyone.
