Dear community,

sometimes it’s the tiniest things that bring the biggest smiles ✨ A tiny keychain, a cute bookmark, a mini flower, a crocheted lucky pig that fits in the palm of your hand – or maybe even an amigurumi that’s smaller than your thumb?

Our new campaign is all about your mini masterpieces! Show us your small projects that prove it’s all about love for the details! πŸ’›

Whether finished or freshly made, crocheted, knitted, sewn, or crafted – the main thing is MINI.

βœ‚οΈ How to take part:

Simply post a reply in this thread with the following info:

Motif / Title: [What is it? e.g., β€œMini strawberry as a keychain”]
Technique: [Crochet / Knitting / Sewing / Crafting / Mix]
How small is it? [e.g., β€œFits in a matchbox!” or size in cm]
Short story (2–4 sentences): [Who was it for? What inspired you? Why this particular mini project?]
Photos: [At least 1 photo – TIP: Place an everyday object next to it for size comparison! πŸͺ™ e.g., a coin, a match, a finger, or a teacup. That makes the best photos!]

πŸ“‹ The rules:

  • All handmade techniques are welcome (crochet, knitting, sewing, crafting, embroidery, macramé…)
  • The project should be β€œmini” – as a rough guide: max. 15 cm on the longest side (exceptions allowed if it β€œfeels mini” πŸ˜„)
  • Already finished AND new projects are allowed
  • Original designs AND projects made from a pattern count
  • Please like the posts you like best
  • Prize: €100 Crazypatterns store credit πŸŽ‰
  • Duration:Β until March 22, 2026
  • Feel free to share the campaign on your social media channels!

πŸ’‘ Need inspiration? Here are a few ideas for what β€œmini” can be:

  • Keychains & bag charms
  • Mini amigurumi (animals, characters, food)
  • Bookmarks
  • Doll clothes & doll accessories
  • Pincushions
  • Earrings, brooches & small jewelry
  • Mini flowers & mini plants
  • Finger puppets
  • Lucky charms & small little gifts
  • Miniature decor (gnome doors, tiny baskets, mini pillows…)
  • Phone cases & small pouches
  • AppliquΓ©s & patches

There are no limits to your creativity! πŸ˜‰

πŸ“Έ Photo tip for a wow effect:

Place your mini project next to an everyday object so everyone can immediately see how small it is. This could be:
β†’ a 1-euro coin
β†’ a ruler
β†’ your hand
β†’ a teacup
β†’ a pen
That’s how you get photos that will make everyone instantly say, β€œOh, how cute!” πŸ₯°

πŸ₯‡ πŸ₯ˆ πŸ₯‰ The winners will be determined as usual:

  • Community Choice: 3 Γ— €20 = €60 (The 3 posts with the most likes win)
  • Jury Picks: 2 Γ— €10 = €20 (Jury = Operator and Moderator)
  • Random selection: 2 Γ— €10 = €20 (2 participating posts will be chosen at random)

We’re incredibly excited to see which little treasures you have hidden away in your drawers or what you’ll still create before the campaign ends. Remember: Even the smallest thing can be the biggest when it’s made with heart! 🫢

Don’t forget to like your favorites and share the campaign with your craft-loving friends!

Have fun and good luck!
Your Crazypatterns Team πŸŽ€

I had so many tiny leftover yarn scraps. I spent a long time thinking about what I could do with them. Then I came up with the idea of making buttons.

Mini owls - great as keychains or bag charms
Crochet
The owls are
about 5 x 3 cm small
I crocheted these mini owls quite some time ago. That year, owls in all shapes were trending. Since I don’t like parting with even small bits of leftover yarn, the idea came to me quickly.

What could be more fitting for a gay couple?

Motif / Title: Colorful Bunnies
Technique: Crochet
How small is it? The bunnies are 6 cm tall
Short story (2–4 sentences): I’m always looking for ideas on how to use up the tiniest leftover yarn scraps. You only need a few grams to make a bunny like this. Especially now around Easter, I love giving them as gifts: as gift tags, decorations for the Easter tree, flower picks, or keychains. They’re always a hit with my friends.

Title:Β Little Easter Bunny
Technique:Β crochet
Size:Β No bigger than the palm of my hand
Story:Β I actually crocheted Henry the Bunny for Easter in a β€œnormal” size with a carrot backpack (using chenille yarn), so there would be room for a nice little something inside.Β
But then I wanted to see what else I could do with the pattern. So, among other things, I made him using filet crochet thread. And now he’s barely bigger than the palm of my hand and even has a carrot heart with him😊

Small and even smaller moments of happiness :-)

The keychain on the left is crocheted with Catania yarn and a 2.5 mm hook and turned out to be about 8 cm tall.
Then I found some great filet yarn and crocheted the lucky charm with a 1.5 mm hook.
The little guy ended up being about 5 cm tall.

My older daughter works as a preschool teacher and asked me to crochet β€œDas kleine Wir” as a farewell gift for the preschoolers. β€œDas kleine Wir” stands for solidarity and getting along well together.

The body is crocheted with Catania yarn and a 2.5 mm hook; for the nose, I had to switch to filet crochet thread and a 1.5 mm hook πŸ˜‚

These little guys are meant to always remind the children of their time in kindergarten and of how important community and togetherness are. They were very happy to receive them.

Since my second hobby after crocheting is painting, I also painted β€œDas kleine Wir” onto stones about 5 cm in size.Β

Technique:Β Made from stocking material
Short story (2–4 sentences):Β I had this glass container and thought to myself, an aquarium like that would be nice. Unfortunately, the first two fish turned out a bit too big, about 10 cm from head to tail. So they didn’t fit in the glass, which meant: starting all over again! Motif: Amigurumi mice
Technique: Crochet
Size: 11 cm
Story:
A few years ago, the show β€œJoNaLu” aired on KIKA. My grandchildren were big fans of this series and asked me to crochet the characters for them to play with. Soon after, the larger figures (about 20 cm) had to be the parents, and they wanted children too. So I crocheted them in mini format (11 cm). Now the family was complete, and my grandchildren were happy! Grandma was too!

I really love crocheting little keychains and enjoy all the little possibilities they offer. Since I live in Thuringia, I thought to myself the other day... why not make a commemorative keychain...

Materials: Filet crochet yarn, hook size 1.5
Crocheting is fun; sewing it together is just part of the process ;0)

Title:Β The Red Panda - My First Miniature Project

Technique:Β Crocheted with a 1mm hook and lace yarn, in this case Rainbow Lace by Hobbii

How small is it?Β The panda is 14 cm long in total and fits perfectly in my hand

Short story:Β I’ve long been fascinated by mini and micro crochet projects, since I’ve also painted miniatures as a hobby and am always drawn to small challenges. When I crocheted the pattern in chenille back in January, I thought I’d finally try my hand at a mini version using lace yarn. Since I had the right yarn at home, I got right to work and actually crocheted with a 1mm hook for the first time. It was definitely a challengeβ€”just embroidering the eyes took me several triesβ€”but I’m soooo proud of it.

Title:Β Snih the Little Seal

Technique:Β Crocheted with a 2.5 mm hook and Scheepjes Little Darling, a fine chenille yarn

Pattern:Β The pattern is by Missbluebuttons Crochet Design, and I was lucky enough to test-crochet the little seal

How small is it?Β Snih is 8 cm long and 4 cm wide

Short story:Β Some time ago, missbluebuttons asked on Instagram if anyone had name suggestions for her upcoming three patterns: three Arctic friends, a polar bear, a snow hare, and a seal. I like requests like that, so I took the time to think about it. First I thought about what you associate with winter, and then I remembered that I also like to use words from other languages to name my role-playing characters. So I looked up what β€œsnow” means in different languages, and that’s how these names came about: Nieve (Spanish for snow) for the polar bear, Lumi (Finnish for snow) for the snow hare, and Snih (Czech for snow) for the seal. The designer liked them so much that she let me choose whether I wanted to test-crochet one of the three. I chose the cute seal and made it first with fine chenille yarn and later again in a slightly larger size.

I knitted these super-cute baby socks (longest side 12 cm) for my niece for Christmas. Made with 6-ply sock yarn using size 3.0 needles

Something just came to mind at the very last minute :-)
Motif / Title:Β [Penguins on an ice floe
Technique:Β Craft mix
How small is it?Β 1-1.5 cm
Short story (2–4 sentences):Β Whenever we travel somewhere for a few days, I look for pretty stonesβ€”or, as you can see here, I collect acorns. So they were sitting at home in a bowl, and I did a bit of research online to see what you could make with them. Then I discovered a few penguinsβ€”and that’s how the whole thing came about.Β

If you’d like to showcase mini-projects in the forum even after the challenge ends, feel free to do so in this thread. Since the Sock Challenge is already underway, I’m closing the thread for the Mini-Project Challenge here to avoid any confusion between the challenges. Have fun, everyone.Β
