Dear community,
is your yarn stash still within reasonable limits, or could you open your own yarn shop by now?

Mod tip: You’ll find best-selling patterns for using up your yarn at the link.

 Hi,
it’s not quite enough for a yarn shop yet. But I do have quite a few “sweaters” and “scarves” in stock. Add in the leftover yarn, and that’s quite a bit. A total of 3 large boxes full. I’ve made good use of my sock yarn. Still, there’s plenty left. It’ll last a few more years. 🙈
Best regards, Marita

My stash has been too big for years now. I don’t think I’ll be able to use it all up in this lifetime.

I don’t know about a store, but it’s definitely too much for the rest of my life.
But it does have the advantage that even when I get spontaneous ideas, I’m guaranteed to have the right yarn on hand.

No, it’s not that bad for me. Well, I still need to use up a few scraps to free up some space before the yarn from the Advent calendar arrives, but it’s only September, so I’m sure I’ll be able to use some of it up.
I still have enough sock yarn for 2 or 3 pairs, so that’s nothing to write home about. I have a bit more cotton—it’s in one of those flat suitcases, the kind you keep under the bed—and there isn’t much room left in there.

Mine is very manageable—all I have is the yarn for the men’s jacket and a few colorful scraps, nothing more.
It’s a different story with the fabrics 😀

Love, Inge

I’m just like Inge. Ever since I turned my attention to fabrics, I’ve been more prone to splurging and hoarding.

My remaining yarn stash is gradually being used up. Sometimes I also buy new yarn for a project. And usually a little extra, so there’s always something left over for the next project. But it’s not enough for a yarn or fabric store. And that’s just fine. If you have too much material, you lose track of it and it puts you under pressure.

Best regards, Ina

What counts as a “reasonable amount”? Is it when you have enough yarn for your next planned sweater, or when the total weight is approaching three digits?

My yarn stash is still manageable, even though a few skeins found their way into my bag while I was on vacation.
Most of it is cotton yarn, and I still have some thin crochet yarn too (for smaller amigurumis).
The yarn is spread out across 2 drawers, 3 fabric boxes, and a large, flat plastic under-bed storage box. There are also quite a few UFOs in there—unfortunately—waiting to be finished. Otherwise, everything’s still under control.
