I'm new here, and I've noticed that there are few to no comments on posted photos. Especially those who are new or just starting out really appreciate positive feedback.
What do you guys think?
Best regards, Biggie
I completely agree with you. Especially when you’re just starting out—but even later on—you’re proud of what you’ve accomplished, want to show off your work, and appreciate recognition from others.
Unfortunately, you’re also right that there aren’t many comments here in the gallery. When uploading a picture, it’s important to specify which pattern you followed (or better yet, to upload it directly from the pattern page). That way, the pattern author can see more quickly that something made using their pattern has been uploaded.
And I think most authors are always happy to see pictures and do leave comments.
But of course, it would be even better if there were more comments in general.
Actually, that sense of pride doesn’t really fade, does it, Birgit? Authors, too, always present their new works with pride and look forward to positive feedback from their colleagues and customers. Praise is, after all, the best “fuel” for the next project.
I haven’t been here that long either, and I’ll admit: this was my first time in the gallery. Right now, I feel a bit overwhelmed by the sheer number of images, big and small. The way it’s presented, I find it very hard to truly appreciate the amount of work that went into them.
@ Birgit - where exactly can I see when a customer has uploaded a picture for one of my patterns?
I don’t know if that sense of pride ever fades, but I don’t think so. I, at least, need someone to show everything to even before I’m finished. :-D
That’s why I’m really grateful that my husband has developed an eye for handicrafts. As a designer, I actually don’t like showing unfinished projects. But I’m always on pins and needles. :-D
If you go to the pattern page, you’ll see a “Gallery” tab at the top. At first, it shows the author’s pictures, but there’s another tab in the gallery (for the pattern). I think it’s called “Customer Photos,” and that’s where all the pictures uploaded for that pattern are displayed.
As an author, you’ll also get a notification when something is uploaded there. (At least, I think so.)
Maybe someone has an idea on how to redesign the gallery—if so, we can definitely submit that request.
That said, I actually find the system quite practical.
I’m glad you agree with me. I only started crocheting amigurumi 3 months ago, and I’m always thrilled when I finish something and others like
it too. Best regards, Biggie
