The longer I struggle with all these new features, the more annoyed I get:
- Before, if I wanted to take a closer look at a pattern, I could find all the necessary information with a single click; now I have to click again for each section.
- When I search for reviews, I find reviews for completely different products under a pattern.
My conclusion: The whole thing is terribly confusing and time-consuming, so browsing isn’t any fun anymore.
Too bad, I used to really enjoy spending time on CP and checked in every day—now it’s more of a chore than a pleasure!
Sorry, but I just had to get that off my chest! I really hope CP becomes more user-friendly again soon.
Good morning
I’m back on CP for the first time in a while, and I’m totally shocked.
You can’t read anything anymore.
Even when I click on the headings, like “Product Type”... nothing!?
Since when has this stupid* website been around? And how do I get back to the information?
So, I totally agree with you.
I used to visit it regularly, too. But this is absolutely not user-friendly.
Thank you very much, @Wollbaerli and @Haekelomi-65, for your honest words. I completely understand that the transition feels bumpy in everyday use – that’s exactly why your feedback is so valuable. Here is a brief roadmap of how we’ll proceed and how you can help yourselves in the meantime:
1. “Too many clicks, not enough overview”
What do you see now?
On the product detail page, all content blocks (description, skills, size information, etc.) are in expandable accordions below the main photo so that mobile users don’t have to scroll endlessly.
We will test additional variants:
1. “Open all” button → opens all accordions at once with one click.
2. Fully open desktop view → shows all sections permanently expanded; anyone who wants to can still collapse them.
2. Switching between “Product reviews | Store reviews”
The tab switcher is located directly above the reviews. We are checking whether the active option can be highlighted more strongly in color so you can immediately see which data source you are currently viewing.
Store reviews are at least as meaningful as product reviews because they reflect customers’ cumulative experience with all of a designer’s patterns – meaning reliability of size information, clarity of descriptions, support response time, and so on.
Especially for brand-new items, which naturally do not have reviews yet, an excellent store review therefore provides a trustworthy quality indicator for potential users.
3. “Ask a question” field
The position and label have been discussed because some authors/designers prefer to receive only private messages. One possible solution would be to collapse the field by default and only expand it after a click – similar to the content blocks – this is still being reviewed/improved.
4. Mobile layout
On smartphones, part of the right-hand column appears below the main photo before the accordions begin – scrolling already works fairly smoothly, but it can become tiring with long detail blocks. We are monitoring the statistics here and may test a more compact variant.
What happens next?
Our developers are reviewing the points listed, prioritizing them, and will roll out any necessary corrections promptly. Some changes (e.g., open vs. closed desktop view) will go through A/B testing first – so these may take a little longer, and in individual cases the test may show that an idea will not be implemented after all.
Once again, thank you very much for your help – please continue to let us know if you notice anything!
Hey there… I stopped by for the first time in a while…
I’m wondering if it wouldn’t have been better to create a mobile app for people who only use CP on their smartphones, and to keep the previous online version available for everyone else. Since I often just look at “new arrivals”—both knitting and crocheting—it’s not as convenient for me as it used to be. Now I have to decide what I want to look at—which category, knitting or crocheting... (Where do I find plotter designs now?)
It just takes a lot of searching. In my opinion, it just “complicates” the site.
I’ve already had to search twice to figure out how to link my uploaded photos to the patterns. Yes, I finally found it (no need to reply), but I’d like to suggest adding a really prominent button there.
