Fresh colors! The striped blouse looks great on you, dear Inge. I’m just wondering, though, if the sleeve inserts shouldn’t have been a little higher? Or is that how it’s supposed to be?
Unfortunately, I also have sloping shoulders, which I don’t like, but there’s nothing I can do about it. That’s why I’d prefer to set “puffed” sleeves higher to conceal that. But technically, I couldn’t change that on a sewing pattern. But if that’s the intended look, I won’t say a word. Anything goes as long as you like it. I’m just asking out of curiosity.
Dear Inge, the colors look great on you, and a blouse like this is perfect for summer.
However, the low-set “puff sleeves” might make your shoulders look even more sloping.
I suspect your shoulders are narrower than the pattern calls for. But you could easily fix that by pinning a pleat on the outside of the shoulder seams—perhaps up to the turquoise stripe and then no more than 3 cm downward from the shoulder seam. This will raise the gathered sleeves and might even make your shoulders look wider. The bust measurement will remain the same because the pleats open up again just below the shoulder seam.
You could try this out first with pins or safety pins to see if you like it and if it improves the fit.
Dear Inge,
I’ve already admired your pretty blouse in the gallery and left you a comment there. I’d love something like that, too.
Best regards, Monika
