Hi Josefa, today was definitely not a good day for weeding. We’re seeing temperatures well over 30 degrees here.
But I just went ahead and watered all my flowers. Their heads were drooping quite a bit.
Still, I’m happy about the beautiful weather despite everything.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone, and enjoy plenty of sunshine!
Best regards,
Petra
Thanks, and have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
I don’t have a garden anymore, but I do have a lushly planted balcony and lots of houseplants, and I’m busy tending to them every day. Right now, watering is the main priority, since it’s very warm here and the balcony gets full sun all day long. Thunderstorms are forecast for today—we’ll see how that turns out.
Otherwise, I’ll keep knitting my scarf—I’m in the final third—finish a teddy bear since the eyes have arrived, and sew another teddy bear and a pillowcase. And then I’ll try to turn some older square seat cushions—which are actually really great—into semicircular ones.
In between, I’ll do a little housework, and I have a new book ready to read—my weekend is completely booked!
Hi!
There’s no such thing as weeds 😁
We don’t mow the lawn (if at all, only once a year). Every now and then we cut off a few clumps for the chickens. And we keep moving the rabbits’ outdoor pens around—that’s “mowing” enough 😂
In our garden, there are no weeds, just wild herbs—and the insects love them. Besides, I wouldn’t have time for that kind of thing anyway. Whatever grows, grows. If a big, pesky weed gets in my way, I pull it out. But that’s about it.
I’m heading outside in a minute to pick strawberries. And the first sweet cherries are ripe, too. Over the last few days, I’ve been making elderflower jelly with orange juice. It smells wonderful in the jar and on a breakfast roll. If you’re still planning to make some, you’d better hurry. The elderflowers are almost done blooming.
Other than that, we’re babysitting the grandkids this evening and overnight, since the parents finally want to go to a party together as a couple again. With small children, you always need “help” for things like that. But I’m happy for them from the bottom of my heart.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.
Warm regards, Ina
Since I don’t have a garden, weeding is out of the question.
That said, I don’t consider them “weeds,” but rather “spontaneous growth.”
This is important for insects, bees, bumblebees, beetles, butterflies, and caterpillars, as well as birds.
Right now, I’m mostly busy writing.
As for what I’ll crochet or knit next—we’ll see.
Today is Worldwide Knit in Public Day, but here in the Rhine-Main region it’s too hot to knit—especially outdoors—and too hot for gardening as well. Except for watering, which has to be done, but preferably in the evening. A short walk in the woods earlier was quite pleasant.
Woolly greetings and have a pleasant weekend
Irene
Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone. I don’t have a garden, so there’s no weeding to do. Yesterday it was 34° here in Mainfranken, and today it’s cloudy again—a thunderstorm seems to be on its way; it’s only about 20 km away and heading our way.
Yesterday I just quickly cut back the very largest thistles and pulled out a few other troublemakers that were several meters tall: first of all, I’m actually not supposed to be weeding yet after my back surgery, and second, it was too hot. At some point, though, I’ll have to fight my way to my currant and blueberry bushes…
But the new herb mat is thriving beautifully:
