Just a quick note or reminder for anyone who’s interested:
Starting May 27, Meta AI will use data from Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp to train its AI—unless you’ve opted out beforehand. However, you can only opt out of having your data used for AI on Facebook and Instagram. And that’s exactly what I just did. If you want to opt out of having your data used, you only have until tomorrow.
That’s why I’ve avoided Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc. from the very beginning, because our data is never safe with the Americans, no matter what they write. I’m perfectly happy with what I have; anyone who wants to reach me has my phone number, mobile number, and email address.
Of course, you’re looking at this from a private individual’s perspective.
But if, like me, you have a professional Facebook page featuring your own creative ideas and images, you’ll want to think even more carefully about whether to tacitly allow access to and use of your data or to opt out by objecting. If you haven’t opted out of the use of your data by tomorrow, you’ll never be able to do so afterward. That’s the only reason I posted this reminder here today for everyone to whom it applies.
Hi, I’ve been fiddling with this for ages, but I can’t figure out how or where to opt out. 🙈
I click on the three dots in my profile, which takes me to Facebook’s explanation of how to opt out, but I keep getting a message telling me to switch to my page, even though I’m already on it.
