What do you do with fabric scraps?

Do you have a lot of fabric scraps right now? What do you do with them?

It depends on the size of the fabric scraps, Josefa. Depending on their size, they’re either used for children’s or baby clothes if they’re jersey or cotton suitable for clothing. Sometimes there’s even enough left for a small cuddly toy; everything else that’s suitable as stuffing for cuddly toys gets shredded, and the rest goes in the trash. I’m very much in favor of using fabric down to the very last scrap. But I don’t make patchwork quilts anymore—it’s become too much work for me, and I’ve already supplied my whole family with up to four patchwork quilts.

Since I don’t sew that much, the tiniest scraps end up as stuffing inside various heads and bellies, and I pass on the larger scraps—the ones that could still be turned into something—to others. They know what to do with them better than I do.

I recently sewed arm warmers from scraps of T-shirts and leggings, but I still have a lot left over, so I’m giving them to a woman who makes sensory blankets.
