Dear Community,
how are your crafting and preparations for Easter coming along?

Good, haha. My crafts and decorations are done, and I don’t have to prepare anything else—I’ll be spending Easter first at a friend’s house and then with my family. It’s going to be so easy this year!

I’ve been checkmated when it comes to work since the weekend—in the garden, the kitchen, and with my crafts. I ended up in the ER over the weekend; it had gotten so swollen that I couldn’t bend it anymore.

Now I’m just lounging in the sun and reading a lot.

Oh dear, Petra. Did you fall, or is it just too much to handle? I wish you patience and calm, a speedy recovery, and some interesting books.

On Friday, I thought it was a rose thorn. I’d been trimming the hedge and got a thorn stuck in my finger. Lots of blood.
Then I went to church and spent 2.5 hours tying small palm bunches for Palm Sunday.
By 7 p.m. that evening, my finger was swollen, and by Saturday morning it was so swollen that I couldn’t move it anymore.
At the emergency room, they couldn’t find anything in the wound, but it just isn’t healing properly or becoming pain-free. However, it’s my already-troubled finger, and I’m starting to think it was just overuse.

Thanks for the get-well wishes.

It’s just the two of us anyway,
so there’s not much to prepare.

I’ll just need to buy the rest of the ingredients for dinner tomorrow.

Oh dear, I hope your hand gets better soon.

Everything is ready here too, and since there are just two of us, I decorated very sparingly.

Best wishes, Inge

Oh, Petra, that’s certainly not what anyone wants. But sometimes we’re forced to take breaks, whether we like it or not. And you wouldn’t voluntarily sit out in the sun doing nothing, would you? So, take it in stride and practice patience. If they checked at the hospital and didn’t find anything, it was probably just overuse—especially since it’s your already injured finger anyway. It’ll probably need more attention and, if necessary, some rest going forward.

We’re expecting a lot of visitors for Easter. I still have quite a bit to do: pack the Easter treats into little bags to hide in the garden, bake a big poppy seed braid, make the grandchildren’s favorite yogurt, bake fresh bread and rolls, make egg salad, and do a bit of house cleaning too.

Crafts are as much a part of my life as my daily bread—otherwise, I’d be unhappy. I’ve knitted tops for my dolls (that’ll be a blog post) and sewn flared pants (that’ll be a sewing pattern). Oh, it’s so much fun! The earrings and the hairband are handmade, too.

Wishing you all a wonderful Easter.

Warm regards, Ina

Dear Petra, best wishes for a speedy recovery from me, too. Be patient. It won’t be easy, but giving your finger a rest will definitely pay off.

I know what it’s like to have to take a forced break—your fingers are itching to do some crafting, but when it hurts and you can’t move anything, you just have to stick with it.

Enjoy the sunshine,
and I wish you and everyone else a wonderful Easter holiday

Yes, Ina has been busy again, too. I really liked the ’70s with flared pants.
So you’ve got a full schedule for Easter. Have a wonderful holiday with your family

There are just two of us, too. I haven’t decorated for Easter yet, but… I dyed my Easter eggs today. Bring on Easter!

Thank you for your get-well wishes—thank God, I’m managing just fine on my own, and my husband and family are taking care of the rest.

Wishing everyone a wonderful start to the Easter holidays.

For us, it kicks off tonight with the Easter bonfire. Keep your fingers crossed that it stays dry.

(The photo is from 2020—the weather was gorgeous then.)
