How do you organize your crochet hooks and knitting needles?

Hi everyone,

Over time, I’ve accumulated a lot of crochet hooks, knitting needles, and circular knitting cables, all jumbled together in a box. Do you have an organization system or any ideas on how to store everything neatly and clearly? I’m tired of always having to search for things.

Thank you so much for your suggestions, and enjoy the beautiful weather!

My husband gave me a case that used to hold his drawing pens, so now I’ve stowed my needles in there—that way I have them all together.
Then he also gave me another set of needles that already came in a nice case. Before that, I’d sewn myself some little pouches and kept my needles in those. Love, Inge

I’ve sewn little pouches for my circular knitting needles. My crochet hooks are in a tall mason jar, along with a set of double-pointed needles.

I keep my crochet hooks and some accessories in a two-tiered case.

I have a fabric roll for each set of double-pointed needles and circular needles.

Thank you so much for the photos of your organization systems. I’ve gotten some ideas for what might work for me.

I put my circular knitting needles in freezer bags and bought a box designed for A4 documents to put on my shelf—it has a pretty pattern. The bags fit perfectly inside. Inside the box, I first sorted the bags by needle size, and then by length within each size. Since I always have several projects in progress, I stand the bags upright so I can quickly find the right needles later. For my crochet hooks, a friend built me a beautiful wooden box with compartments—like those for tea bags—but I’ve only sorted them roughly.

I have a cutlery tray in my drawer. The knitting needles are grouped by size with a rubber band, and I keep the crochet hooks jumbled together in a metal box for colored pencils (so they’re lying side by side inside). I don’t have too many circular knitting needles (just 2), so they’re looped together and stored with the knitting needles.
