Today is the official Ditch Your New Year’s Resolutions Day 2025. If you still had any resolutions, you can now scrap them with a clear conscience. Do you actually want to change something in 2025 that has nothing to do with “New Year’s resolutions”?
Thanks, Josefa—I wish you and everyone else here a wonderful weekend, too.
Haha, here’s something I read recently: If you break your resolution to go a month without eating sweets after just 12 hours, you’ll just realize that time flies by much faster as you get older! 🤣
No, I didn’t make any resolutions at all—I wouldn’t even know what I could change about myself. Unfortunately, I have no influence over the things in the world that need changing, and even here, in my own life and close personal circle, I have to accept some things as they are.
I don’t have any special plans for the weekend—for us retirees, it’s always the weekend. I’ll be crocheting, probably finishing up a little lion and making progress on my patchwork quilt; maybe I’ll bake a cake tomorrow, start reading a new book, and, since the weather’s supposed to be nice, maybe even go for a walk.
Whoever came up with this whole resolution thing… it’s the same thing every year. I’m not falling for it anymore. When I decide to do something, I don’t care when I do it. I don’t need a new year for that.
I’m looking forward to my sewing room this weekend! I just didn’t get around to it this week—I had other work to do. The sun’s supposed to shine on Sunday, so we’ll squeeze in a walk then.
My fitness group resumed its regular schedule on Monday. As is the case every year, attendance was high at the start of the year and will then taper off over the next few months, just like the good resolutions to lose weight, exercise more, and so on.
Woolly regards
Irene
Yes, those resolutions you don’t keep anyway, or don’t even want to keep. You only live once—why lose weight when chocolate tastes so good? You want to enjoy life for as long as you can.
All you read in the media is negative stuff: price hikes here, restrictions there. And in the end (at the end of your life), you can’t take anything with you anyway. So what’s the point?
Thanks, Josefa—I wish you and everyone else here a wonderful weekend, too.
I make just one resolution every year: to make absolutely no resolutions at all, because they never work out anyway :-) So I save myself the stress and am very happy doing so.
