It’s been a while for me, but we always enjoyed doing crafts with aluminum foil. Stars for the window, little paper lanterns, or just a garland made of rings glued together—with a little patience, you can also create beautiful tea light holders, etc. It was also a lot of fun to cut out little houses, fir trees, or stars from craft paper and cover the open areas with that colorful, translucent paper (I can’t remember the name right now). Pompoms made from leftover yarn, and we also made a lot of things out of empty toilet paper rolls—yarn pictures, etc. I always had a whole basket full of craft supplies and a really great book with craft ideas for kids. I’ve carried over a lot of these traditions from my own childhood; just browsing the internet for ideas wasn’t really a thing back when my kids were little.
