Who brings the presents at your house?

Dear users, dear authors,
does Santa Claus or the Christ Child bring the presents at your house?

"Neither."
We celebrate Jesus Christ and give gifts to one another because we rejoice in his birth.

We’ve done away with all this gift-giving, because being together with family is more valuable to us than any gift. If anything, there’s at most a little something along the lines of “I haven’t forgotten you.”

Sure, as an adult you see things differently, but when we were kids, the Christ Child came to us. That was in the Ruhr region in the ’60s.

When I was a kid, everything was different—Santa Claus brought the presents back then. We still believed in him back then.
Today, though, we don’t give each other gifts anymore.
Instead, we take a trip together or go out for a nice meal.
The kids have moved out; they have their own specific wishes, so I give them money so they can buy something for themselves, or I give them gas money when they find the time to come visit.

Everything’s gotten more expensive, unfortunately, but we don’t get any more money either :-(

In our family, the Christ Child decorates the tree and places the presents underneath it.

That’s how it was when I was a child, and that’s how it is with my children—and the tradition will continue with my grandchild.
