happy weekend: First Sunday of Advent is in 3 weeks

Dear users, dear designers,
The Sunday three weeks from now is the first Sunday of Advent. So if you still want to make Advent calendars, Advent wreaths, or Advent decorations by hand, it might be time.

Today I bought my first batch of speculoos cookies and an Advent calendar for my husband—I’ve decided that this year we’ll each get two calendars. My husband loves to snack, so he’ll get one with chocolates and one with Stollen specialties. I’m getting the crochet calendar from LaCritza and one with tea.
I have plenty of decorations here for us, and I’ve also finished crocheting the items my friend wanted—bring on the first Sunday of Advent! I’ll put up the decorations in the two or three days leading up to it; for now, it’s still pumpkins.

My Advent calendar with tea is already all set. Other than that, there are pumpkins and acorns everywhere here.

Thanks, Josefa—I wish the same for you and everyone else, too. I went grocery shopping with my daughter and grandchild today, so I have the weekend off ;-) and don’t have to go out anymore. I have more than enough Advent and Christmas decorations, so I don’t have to worry about that either. As for teas, we’re only drinking teas for colds right now, because my husband has a terrible cold and I’m sort of fighting it off too. I’m not stressing about the holidays anymore—it’s not worth all the fuss anyway, since it’s usually just the two of us.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend, too. Since the kids have grown up, I don’t do much during the Advent season anymore. Just three little arrangements with a candle and some decorations that I’ve stowed away in boxes. We used to do a lot of crafts and make our own Advent calendars. My partner and I treat ourselves to a scratch-off Advent calendar from Lotto—it’s always fun every year, and it’s exciting to see if we can at least recoup the cost; if not, it doesn’t bother us either. We’re taking this time very calmly—I already have enough stress at work at the discount store. But what I do have to do is bake marzipan cookies—and preferably enough to fill a few tins. LG
