Dear users, dear authors,

Oh yes, my sewing machine is running nonstop. So many ideas for fall and Halloween, and I’m practicing on a new quilt before I continue working on my big quilt. Once again, there just aren’t enough hours in the day

I’ve finished a few little animals; I’ll take photos tomorrow in daylight, and now I need to think about what to do next.

Unfortunately, once again, I’m working on everything at once: Japanese gloves and wrist warmers as Christmas gifts, cat socks for my granddaughter’s birthday, I still have to bind off the gym bag for my grandson, and a washcloth is still waiting for its border. On top of that, there are tons of projects swirling around in my head… I just need longer days!

I’m working on a collection like that too, Christina. There are ghosts, pumpkins, gnomes, a seagull—one curtain is almost finished, and the nautical dish soap curtain still needs that last row of holes.
And today I bought a pattern for a Lucifer gnome...

Hi everyone,

I’m currently working on a crochet commission called “Danish Hearts.”
Other than that, just little bits and pieces—pumpkin charms, crocheted smiley faces...

I’m trying my hand at crocheting a tortoise again. :-) I crocheted quite a few of them a few years ago and want to see if I still remember how ;-) :-)

Best regards, Inge

Something quick to do in between

Either a coaster or a garland—we’ll see

The last few weeks have been pretty busy for me, with quite a few appointments and a husband who has a day off every week until next year and wants to be entertained.

We also set up a workspace in the garage, which we’d been wanting to do for a long time.

In between, I sewed a little thank-you gift for the truly wonderful team at my new dental office, because they’ve been my “guardian angels” over the past few months.
And it fits the season perfectly right now.

I sewed two pumpkins, one bat, and one ghost, then painted and varnished them. I also sewed rice pouches to use as packaging and crocheted toadstools. I also included some almond cookies from our local coffee roastery (sooo delicious!) - I gave it to them yesterday and think it was well received.

@WollwunderPetra, by the way, you’re the one who gave me the idea to paint the fabrics. 😉
I think your patchwork pieces are really pretty once again, by the way.

Right now I’m sewing a few lantern ghosts that I want to hang on the balcony for Halloween. Let’s see if the plan works out.

Good morning everyone,

@Claudia — painting fabrics — that sounds interesting. So far, I’ve dyed my embroidery fabrics in a water bath. But painting them — I’ll have to let that sink in and think about it a bit.

Your bat turned out so cute — the team at the dentist’s office must have been delighted with everything and can make the practice really spooky.

Petra, you recently showed us your embroidered, painted design. That gave me this idea.
Depending on the paint you use, the fabric becomes firm and stiff, so it probably won’t be easy to embroider on anymore. At least not if you’re painting with acrylic paint.

Yeah, that definitely won’t work anymore. In the spots where there was a lot of paint, everything was hard, so I rubbed the paint off.

Today I’m going to sew my leaves by hand

So, I finished the ghost decorations for the balcony last night. We’re going to hang them outside right away—I’m curious to see how well these lantern lights hold up in the weather 🤣

Awesome—and kind of creepy.

Is there wire woven into it?

No. 2 is also finished

Petra, I’ve got the bottoms or caps of PET bottles stuck in their heads, and for the arms I sewed tunnels and inserted wooden skewers. But I’m sure wire would work too.

Your acorns turned out really nice.

By the way, they’re now hanging from fishing line on the balcony, swaying in the wind.

Wow, those are amazing. Thanks for the info on the accessories. I’m going to save that picture in my ideas folder right away.

You’ve been crafting some great things again. I’m currently sewing Secret Santa gifts myself, but I can’t show them to you yet, because many of the girls these gifts are meant for also come here and check back often to see what’s new at CP.

Love, Inge

The ghosts are really great, and so easy to make with stuff you almost always have on hand!
