New yarn… but how do I wash it? I’m a bit stumped right now.

Hey there.....
I have a question—I bought some new yarn. Unplied, four-stranded, three parts wool, one part silk....
Yesterday I actually knitted a gauge swatch, washed it, and blocked it. I’m not really happy with the result. So here’s my question: the product description said “the yarn is meant for a knitting machine and therefore has a wax coating, and it won’t really ‘bloom’ until after washing.” I get the part about it blooming after washing, but a wax coating???? I’m familiar with spinning oil, but how do I wash yarn with wax? I’m worried about using water that’s too hot because of the silk....
  Can anyone help me???
I have my eye on a pretty challenging jacket, and I’ll be spending quite a few hours knitting it—it would be a shame if it all went wrong later when washing it. 

Warm water with wool detergent and by hand… I wouldn’t dare do it any other way because of the wool.
I knitted myself a scarf out of wool and silk. It washes so well, but it didn’t have a wax coating.
Can’t you ask where you bought the yarn? What does the label say?

I don’t know anything about wool, but the way I read the product description, the yarn has a wax coating so it glides smoothly through the knitting machine. After washing, that coating is no longer needed and gets washed out during the first wash, and the wool—or rather, the knitted piece—becomes “fluffy.”
Otherwise, I agree with Marita: if you have a product description, there’s surely a washing recommendation included, right?
