“Basic knowledge required”: what does that mean?

Dear users, dear authors,
What does it mean when the product description for a pattern says, “Basic knowledge is required”?

I guess it basically means that you know how to even hold a needle and thread to do some crafting ;-) because, in my experience, there are plenty of people who don’t know that. Then I think it means you should know how to crochet chain stitches or how to cast on for knitting. Because if you don’t know that, there’s no point in even trying. OK, thankfully these days there are plenty of videos on YouTube that show you how to do things.

In crocheting, this likely refers to the basic stitches (chain stitches, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, and possibly triple crochet), as well as crocheting in rows and in rounds, and increases and decreases.
