Bag Flaps

Dear users, dear authors,
Do you prefer bags with flaps, or do you find them rather impractical for everyday use?

It always depends on the bag whether it has a flap or not. For the college bag, a flap is needed to close the bag. Then again, there are bags where the bag speaks for itself and doesn’t need a flap, like my Andy Warhol bag. Sometimes flaps are also simply meant as an eye-catcher, like this one that I sewed for myself many years ago; I still have the spider today, but the bag was disposed of long ago :-) I digitized this Thekla myself once :-) and the patchwork shopper doesn’t need a flap either; the design speaks for itself. I once sewed this PW bag for one of my daughters for her birthday

Most of my bags have flaps. First of all, I think they’re pretty, and second, they keep people from just reaching in. Sure, the others have zippers, but I still think a flap on top looks nicer. Except for shopping bags—of course, that’s a bit impractical.

I’m not really a fan of bags with flaps. 

I also think it depends on the bag.
Flaps are impractical on a large shopper; on some bag styles, a flap just doesn’t look right, while others look better with one.
