Sunflowers make everyone’s heart sing—they’re the very essence of summer flowers.

I also have a few stragglers in the garden, where I’m still waiting for the blooms. They’re tall yellow marigolds. You’re supposed to sow them together with the tomatoes. But since I had so much on my plate, I forgot about them. I made up for it later and planted the seedlings outdoors later as a result. Now I’m waiting every day for the first bloom. What’s special about them is that they bloom until the frost. I’ll show you a few pictures from last year.

So if it stays frost-free for a long time this year, I’ll have a late bloom to enjoy.
