Coffee Bean Pattern / a Kind of Cable Pattern?

if I’ve understood this correctly, is the coffee bean pattern a kind of small cable pattern? Examples in the link.

No, it has nothing to do with a cable pattern... if it’s knitted like the hat in the link, then it does indeed look like a small cable. But if you knit the coffee bean pattern according to the pattern, it looks completely different. The name “coffee bean pattern” comes from the fact that the repeat looks like a roasted coffee bean.

I really like this pattern for socks.

What’s shown on the little hat is called a “tulip braid” 🙈 and, strictly speaking, isn’t a braid at all... No stitches are “braided” there. It’s a knit-purl pattern with a slipped stitch and a yarn over… So it’s done entirely without a cable needle…
I like this pattern as a cuff or as a trim on jackets instead of ribbed cuffs…
