Salix model, flared skirt

Hi, has anyone tried the “Salix – Swinging Skirt” pattern yet? It’s a skirt with 14 panels. I just downloaded the PDF and am surprised that it doesn’t call for a zipper—even though it recommends “lightweight woven fabric” rather than jersey.

I measured the sewing pattern (1 panel) to calculate the waist circumference, and for size 36, I got 98 cm. Something’s got to be wrong here, right?

If I’m seeing this correctly, a waistband made of ribbed fabric with elastic is sewn in at the top. That will then cinch the skirt at the top to fit your waist measurement.

in the measurement chart, the hip measurement for the pattern is marked in yellow. That measurement is important for the skirt. The waistband is supposed to be sewn from ribbing fabric, so you’ll be able to get into the skirt even without a zipper.

Hi Lotta, I just measured the size 36 again—one panel is 5.2 cm at the top without seam allowance; multiply that by 14 and you get 72.8 cm... You probably included the seam allowance in your measurement...
