Working Up Bobbel + Gradient Yarn with New Ideas

Bobbel cakes are often used for crafts because of their beautiful color gradients. Personally, I’m not that fond of plied yarn cakes, but luckily there are also many twisted yarns with a wonderful color gradient.
Leftover yarn from them can then be used for all kinds of small projects.

Here are a few examples:

Rainbow Fairy Hand Puppet
For the Rainbow Fairy’s robe and hat, I used sparkly gradient yarn in soft pastel rainbow colors. Of course, you can also use individual leftover yarn in the corresponding colors, but this way the transitions are softer and more harmonious.


Seahorse Hippy
Seahorse Hippy was also crocheted with a gradient yarn like this, though the color changes are longer here. It was a very thin yarn for shawls or socks. I held it double for the seahorse so the body would be more stable.


.Crocheted Shells
Yes, and gradient yarn was also used for parts of these shells, here with a very short color gradient. This makes the shells look more realistic.
