Dear users, dear authors,
Many of you like to start preparing for Christmas early or work on Christmas gifts throughout the year.
Have you done that this year, or are Christmas and the thought of Christmas decorations still a long way off?

Hi, I’ve already finished the 24 items for the “Homemade” Advent calendar🎉. That way, there’s no time pressure in November🤣. Best wishes and happy crafting!

You’re finished early, though. Great.

As for me, my thoughts are only just starting to turn to fall decorations right now.

Pillows with pumpkins and leaves

Christmas is still a long way off.

I’m still working on my first pair of summer socks—size 2 needles and a cable pattern take time.

For Christmas projects, I’ll need to get the materials first, once I know what I’m going to make.

I don’t have anything special planned this year, but I’d start very early on an Advent calendar. Since Christmas decorations are usually put up during Advent anyway, I’d get started by early September at the latest. Right now is the time for fall and Halloween stuff.

I also enjoy doing crafts during this time of year. I love making new Christmas decorations starting in late November and adding them to what I already have. Around this time, the internet is full of beautiful pictures where you can get ideas.

But of course, that only works for small crafts. An Advent calendar takes time—so the earlier you start, the better.

I feel the same way—an Advent calendar isn’t something you can whip up in a flash, unless it’s an edible one made from Dominoes😊
I used to always wait until the last minute... but this year I’ve actually already finished one little thing: a sewn Fröbel star. Over the years, I’ve made countless ones out of paper and/or ramie ribbon… but I only found out yesterday that you can sew them, too… I stumbled upon it online by chance, gave it a try, and thought it was great… there are sure to be a few more to come.

@Karen—I admired your star in the gallery. It turned out really nice; I like it.

Are you going to hang it up, or use it as a table decoration? I could also imagine it as a pot holder for Christmas.

Not at all.
But I’m looking forward to the first gingerbread cookies—it can’t be long now.

I’m just like Anja—I haven’t started either, because I have so much that I’m already handing it out to my daughters. LG Inge

Yes, definitely early. It always takes some time, after all. Right now, I’m knitting socks—I always have them in my bag when I have to wait. And I’m already working on a wall quilt for my son.
But the best ideas usually don’t come until right before Christmas, so I always end up stressed. 😂
Best regards, Marita
