Right- and left-leaning increases from the strand between stitches

Dear users, dear authors,
Are right- and left-leaning increases from the strand between stitches a type of yarn over in knitting that must be worked twisted?
I read this in a product description, and I’m sure this is something for advanced knitters, right?

Is this a serious question? (I thought moderatoren knew everything about knitting.)
So:
You don’t make a yarn over; instead, with the left needle you pick up the strand between the stitch just knitted and the next stitch. Note that the strand comes from the previous row, because there isn’t one in the current row yet—it hasn’t been finished. There are two ways to pick it up:

1. The right end of the strand lies at the front of the needle, the left end at the back: Insert into this loop from the right and knit it as a twisted knit stitch. The front strand leans to the left. This is a left-leaning increase.

2. The right end of the strand lies at the back of the needle, the left end at the front: Insert into this loop from the left and knit it as a knit stitch. This creates a twist in the opposite direction from version 1. The front strand leans to the right. This is a right-leaning increase.
