Thanks, Josefa—I wish you and everyone else here a wonderful weekend, too. I picked up some yarn while I was out shopping today; I want to knit a shawl to go with my tweed jacket. :-)
Donating blood has never been an option for me, because I’m not allowed to donate—and never have been. As a child, I had hepatitis B; I was infected by a cousin who works at a hospital, and I was staying with them during summer vacation. Although I’m completely cured myself, the virus is still present and detectable in my blood, so donating is out of the question.

I used to donate blood, but now my cocktail of medications is a bit too much.
I’ve realized that I really enjoy these long-term projects, like the temperature blanket. This year, I’m crocheting a temperature snake out of my leftover yarn, but now that I’m almost halfway done, I can see there will still be plenty of scraps left over—and that’s when I thought of Inge’s scrap blanket. Great—I’m going to make one of those out of all my acrylic yarn scraps, too! I’ve already started on the first squares, worked in garter stitch, but I won’t really know what’s left over until the end of the year, when the snake is finished.
I did order some new yarn today, though, because I’ll need to knit 80 patches. I’m using the yarn doubled so it turns into a nice, voluminous blanket—that’s going to take quite a bit of material.
And then I’ll also finish the crocheted slippers; just need to weave in a few loose ends and attach some little beads.
