I think vacation is a great time to take on a larger craft project. After all, you have more time and don’t have to be finished by tomorrow. And when you wake up early, you’re already happy that you can keep working away on your project. Here are a few pretty suggestions for you. I hope you have lots of fun making them and enjoy a relaxing vacation! Even if you’re not on vacation, you’ll enjoy my suggestions.
Warm regards from Ina
Crochet pattern “Mosaic Blanket Made of Squares”
First, we choose beautiful colors of the same weight that go well together. Then we crochet loooots of squares. So you always have a small crochet project with you and don’t have to carry the whole blanket around in one piece. Then we crochet the many squares together into a blanket. Add a pretty border around it, and your one-of-a-kind blanket is finished—one only you have.
French Knitting Doll Rug
This is something really special too! Every rug is one of a kind. Here, the good old knitting doll comes into play—but not the kind where you have to lift every stitch with a pick, rather a mechanical one with a crank. That way you can make lots of colorful cords in no time at all (quite literally, with a turn of the hand). These are then woven through a crocheted grid. Add a border, sew on non-slip backing underneath (because it’s a rug), and a very special decorative piece is finished. Every rug is one of a kind.
Pillow “African Flowers”
A pillow is always useful, right? You can use it just about anywhere, arrange it decoratively, or spruce up something plain. My pillow is crocheted from lots of hexagons. They’re wonderful to crochet one by one in the garden—so you always have a small craft project that makes you happy.
These are then crocheted together into a cover, and buttons are added to the cover. That way you can remove and wash the cover when needed. Here, too, every pillow is one of a kind—depending on which colors you use.
