Hardworking Little Elves: The Oldest UFO

dear little helpers,
how is your oldest UFO—that is, unfinished object—coming along? Is there any progress, or does this UFO need to go to the Museum of Unfinished Handicrafts? Will you be able to finish a UFO this week, or are you too busy?

Booohhhh......
I inherited a UFO from my mom - I took it with me after she passed away. It’s a damask tablecloth, and there are still a few leaves left to embroider before it’s finished. It has been sitting in a box at my place for 20 years. I still haven’t been able to bring myself to finish embroidering the tablecloth.

Some of my own are about 2 to 3 years old. But sooner or later I’ll get to all of them. 
None of them are going into the museum😄

I have to finish one this week. I need it as a gift.

Thankfully, I don’t have a UFO in that sense, but my blanket isn’t finished yet either. Today I’m knitting on it again—I can only knit in short bursts, because otherwise I can barely move my hands, but no one’s rushing me and the blanket is just for me, so no need to rush :-)

My UFOs have decreased in number over the past week. I’ve been unraveling some projects. I haven’t finished any UFOs—but I haven’t started any new ones either.

My oldest UFO? Unfortunately, I can’t say for sure. Maybe my Hardanger blanket? It’s been sitting in the closet for at least 20 years. My mom always wanted to finish it for me, but I thought I could handle it myself. Now it’ll probably remain unfinished. 

There are surely still a few UFOs lying around in old wool bags.
The oldest one, if it still exists, is 46 years old. No, that’s not a typo. Back then, I wanted to knit a Smurf and a Pumuckl for my daughter. I got stuck on the heel of the Smurf.
I’ll have to go look for it sometime.

Marlies, when you write “for your daughter…” I started an embroidered picture for my daughter shortly after she was born. It’s also up there in the craft room. Not finished. So it must be about 39 years old. Maybe that’s my oldest one… 🤔. In any case, it’s been there longer than the Hardanger blanket.
