Fan Stitch

how do you do the fan pattern? Can a beginner manage it?

There are different ways to work the fan stitch. Generally, it consists of 2 double crochets, 2 chain stitches, and 2 double crochets worked into a single stitch. In the following rows, these fans are then worked into the chain-space arches of the previous row.
  Of course, you can also vary the pattern by working 3 double crochets, etc.
In my experience, some beginners have a bit of a hard time getting started, but so far everyone (at least among those I’ve advised) has managed it.
  In my personal opinion, the fan stitch is one of the simplest patterns that can be used for beginner garments.
Besides, you naturally make much faster progress with this pattern than with a solid stitch pattern, and I think that’s especially nice for beginners making garments.
