Hi Josefa!
In my kids’ crochet workshops (where none of the participants had ever crocheted before), the very first thing I had them do was make foundation chains in all colors. On the one hand, this helps the kids develop a feel for crocheting evenly; on the other hand, it produces quick results. You
can glue these foundation chains around a toilet paper roll, attach a cardboard base to the bottom, glue on eyes, a beak, and little feet made of felt, and maybe you even have a few colorful feathers to glue on the sides as wings.
So, after about 1 1/2 hours, everyone had a little “hand-crocheted” chick to use as a pencil holder, and everyone was really motivated to learn single crochet stitches.
After that, you could try a small, simple pouch, and once they’ve mastered single crochet, work on decreases and increases to form a ball—then embroider eyes and a mouth on it to create a little stress ball!
Have fun crocheting with the kids!
