Especially with doll dresses, you can have great fun playing with different patterns and materials.

Here the little doll is dressed as a Black Forest girl . On the right you can see the original traditional costume with a Bollenhut hat and black traditional dress. The bodice of the dress is made of velvet, so I used thin chenille yarn for it and cotton yarn for the skirt. To make the apron stand out, it is crocheted in a lace pattern with fine shiny filet crochet thread. The Bollenhut hat is made of straw and decorated with red pompoms. If the whole thing isn’t colorful enough for you, you can also crochet the apron from red yarn, as shown in the picture on the left. That looks very good too.

In this princess dress, crochet is combined with fabric: The underskirt is made from foil jersey or another fabric that doesn’t fray, so you don’t have to sew any hems. The overdress is crocheted from glitter yarn and edged with sponge yarn.

The ice-skating costume is also edged with sponge yarn. The iridescent yarn shimmers and sparkles slightly, giving the costume just the right glamour. The earmuffs are worked with matching sponge yarn as well. In the pattern you’ll also find instructions for how to make the ice skates, once with hot glue (left picture) and once with silk clay (right picture)
