Are there any knitters here?

You click on “knitting” and all you find is a thread about knitting dolls. That’s all well and good, but surely there must be more interesting stuff on the topic?

Well, what are you interested in right now when it comes to knitting?
You could always start your own thread about the aspects that interest you at the moment.

Yeah, exactly—you have to say exactly what you want to know.
Then it'll work out with the knitting questions too :)

Interesting things about knitting—definitely. Although I have to admit that I just signed up here to finally give crocheting a try :) Maybe it’s just as well that knitters are in the minority here. Otherwise, I’d end up reaching for five needles instead of one again :)

*laughs* I’ve already found those—but as a die-hard knitter, I obviously couldn’t pass up the posts here :)
What drives me to do this? It all started with a mouse :) It was meant to be a cat toy. Since the cats were still very, very small, the mouse wasn’t supposed to be big either—knitting in the round seemed too fiddly to me. So I dug out my crochet hook and dug into what little crochet knowledge I still had—the rest I found online. Now I have plenty of mice—and my first hat is almost done, too. And it still feels kind of strange to have just one hook in my hand. I don’t think crocheting will ever really be my thing—but I did want to tackle a few more projects like this. And crocheted hats are somehow… more shapely

Did you just make the mice with single crochet stitches and then stuff them with stuffing, or did you use catnip right away?

You’re absolutely right about the hats. I really don’t like it when those knitted hats stretch out and curl up at the edges or get all “pointy”—crocheting really works better for that.

What other things do you want to try crocheting, besides mice and hats?

I’ll check out that post right away—bamboo needles sound good—I use them almost exclusively.

Exactly—I just made the mice by feel using single crochet stitches. I increased at the beginning, then went straight for a while, and decreased again. For stuffing, I used the stuffing you also use for bears and dolls—and a little bit of regular mint. For my big tigers, I also added a pinch of chopped valerian root.

Thanks to this strange pregnancy bug, I’m finally going to try crocheting baby shoes. I’ve been kind of obsessed with these mini Chucks from the very beginning. But so far, I’ve only knitted these shoes. If I knew how the picture thing works here, I’d post a link—I’ll have to look into it again—ha—a gallery might be nice here. But I don’t know how the tech behind the shop/forum/site works. Pictures are a bit of a storage hog,

The knitting section really does need to be filled out. It’s pretty empty here compared to the crochet section. I’m afraid I have to agree with the previous posters on this one.
