Hand-crocheted nativity figures will be admired everywhere. They’re not all that difficult to make and can be worked from leftover yarn. Basic crochet skills and a little patience are enough. The basic shapes for the figures are very simple (balls, cones, rectangles). In the patterns, you get the instructions written out round by round and stitch by stitch. Nothing can go wrong.

It’s best to start with the
Holy Family. Once you have more practice, you can crochet the ox and the donkey to go with them. Then you’ll already have a perfect nativity scene.

You’re sure to manage the
shepherds and the Christmas angel, too. For the sheep, as a beginner I wouldn’t use fluffy yarn (as in the picture), but rather a soft acrylic yarn that you then brush vigorously with a pet brush to achieve the fur effect

And last but not least, the
Three Wise Men. Here again, the figures are very simple. For the animals you’ll need a little more practice, but again everything is explained round by round.
The nativity figures are a great project that you can pick up again and again in between, so you can keep working on it all year long. This way, your nativity scene can grow a little more year after year.
