Vacation 2023

Dear users and authors,
are your vacations already over, or do you have any more vacation trips or travels planned?

We took our vacation during the Pentecost break. It was wonderful, with really great weather.

We might still have some day trips planned for August, but nothing is set in stone yet. 

In September, I’ll finally get to see my granddaughters again after a year. I’m really looking forward to it. Until then, it’s time for daily raspberry picking—and starting in late August, apple picking as well.

No, we don’t really have vacations anymore—as retirees, we’re always off work, but we can’t really travel anymore.
But I feel so sorry for everyone here who wanted to enjoy the school break; you can’t even step outside without getting soaked to the bone.
On Saturday, I’m going out again—I treat myself to that once a month. A friend is picking me up, so I don’t even have to drive.

I was in Gran Canaria with some friends this spring and in Greece in June with my husband, niece, nephew, and grandnephew.
Those were vacations where the temperatures were still manageable.
Now we’re sitting here in Düsseldorf and it’s raining every day. It’s certainly good for the garden, but not so much for our spirits.
But hope springs eternal. There are sure to be some nice days ahead that we can enjoy on the patio.

Veronika, that’s how it is for us, too—as retirees, we have the whole year to enjoy our hobbies and such, but unfortunately, going on vacation just isn’t an option anymore.

Yeah, that’s just how it goes eventually. Since there’s an 11-year age difference between us, it hits me a little earlier, but that’s okay. We’re glad we still have each other—that’s not the case for some of our friends. Getting old really isn’t for the faint of heart.

My vacation’s long over—nothing left. But I have 3 days off in October (60th birthday) and 3 days in late September/early October (craft fair).
Other than that, we’re just muddling through.
