Projects on the go: great little makes

Dear users, dear designers,
do you need quick + entertaining projects for on the go / small handmade projects that you can carry in your handbag, maybe even for leftover yarn? You’re sure to find a suitable pattern here in this thread.

Hats and headbands are especially great for on the go. You can take them anywhere, they take up hardly any space, and they’re fun even in the summer. Plus, they’re quick to finish.

To the pattern for the Elisabeth Hat

This circular collar is very well suited for crafting on the go. It’s knitted from just one skein and is useful almost all year round. It also always makes a lovely gift.

The pattern is very simple and knitted without abbreviations, so it’s also suitable for beginners with basic skills.

The “African Flowers” makeup bag is made up of individual hexagons. For the hexagons with the flower in the center ("African Flowers"), I used 4 different colors here, but you can also use fewer colors. You’ll need less than 1 skein of each color. Since the hexagons are crocheted individually and assembled later, this project is especially well-suited for working on the go.





If you’d like to start crocheting gift bags for Christmas now, these St. Nicholas gift bags are also perfect to crochet while you’re on the go. Depending on the size, you’ll need one skein of sock yarn—or less—for each bag. I used sock yarn here for Christmas stockings. But you can basically use any yarn or leftover yarn you have on hand. The top edge is made from a scrap of white plush yarn. Since you’re just crocheting straight up, you don’t need to worry about increases or decreases.





Or how about this fun snowman bottle cover? Here, too, you don’t have to worry about a complicated pattern or increases and decreases. You’ll need 2 skeins of white cotton yarn and a few colorful scraps.

Granny squares are ideal companions for when you’re on the go. 

Granny Number 3 is what I’m showing you here. The granny square is explained in writing in the pattern, and I’ve also included a crochet chart. Whether colorful or solid-colored, a blanket made from these squares is sure to catch the eye. 

If you have a small craft project in your bag, no wait will ever feel too long ... whether it's a canceled train or the waiting room at the doctor's office. You can fill the time creatively.

Blanket and pillow for the doll bed

It doesn't take much yarn, and the pattern is easy to follow too. You can crochet pillows in different sizes and also a matching rug. It's a wonderful way to decorate the doll bed. Also ideal for leftover yarn.



Mosaic blanket made of squares

The same pattern is used here. Many people crochet lots of different squares and then join them together into a blanket. The individual squares are perfect as a small craft project to keep in your bag.





Cowl for the whole family

This is also a lovely project for on the go. We knit round after round in the round on a circular knitting needle. That way you can't drop a stitch. And in the end you'll have a beautiful cowl in a great pattern for the kids, your husband, or yourself. You'll be glad to have it in fall ;-) Works in a solid color or with gradient yarn.
