3 ch + 1 extra ch, 1 tr around the 1st extra ch, 1 ch, skip tr, (1 tr around the ch, 1 ch, skip tr) x34, 1 tr around the ch, 1 ch, 1 sl st in the 3rd ch
Oh my God, who wrote this pattern? So the part about 3 ch + 1 ch is fine, and 1 dc in the 1st ch too. I have no idea why it says “extra” there. The 1 ch after that is also fine, but I don’t understand “dc skip” either. I’d read “skip” as “skip,” but if this is supposed to be the 1st row, I don’t have a dc to skip yet. What’s in parentheses is a repeat, after all. So it looks like this isn’t the first row but at least the second row, because you need the dc that you’re supposed to “skip”—you could also just write “skip.” What comes after “x34”—that is, 1 dc around the ch, 1 ch, and 1 sl st in the 3rd ch—is definitely the edge. You crochet a double crochet into this chain of chain stitches; you don’t have to fumble around trying to find the stitch that was one of the first 3 chain stitches—it’s easier to just work with it that way—and then 1 chain stitch again, followed by that slip stitch into the 3rd chain stitch. Whether you’re counting the 3rd chain stitch from the beginning or from the end of the row will become clear as you crochet. So when you get to those 3 ch, the first ch you see could be the 3rd ch—or vice versa. Oh my gosh, now I’m sounding really complicated too. Some things just sound complicated, but as you crochet, it’ll become clear what’s meant. Best regards, Sylvia
I think this is the pattern after the crocheted hat crown, which consists of double crochets.
The pattern consists of 1 double crochet, 1 chain stitch, and skipping 1 double crochet—which, in the first round after the crown, are still worked into the double crochets of the previous round.
After that, the double crochets are probably worked into the spaces.
@Huelsta,
welcome to our community. I had to remove the photo because you don’t have the rights to it.
If you tell me who the author of the pattern is (also via PM), I can ask the author for help for you. I searched for the image source, but it may not be a pattern from here. Anyway, please give me more information so I can help you.
