I’m looking for a specific yarn: Milk Cotton

Hi everyone :)

When I started getting seriously into crocheting two years ago, I began with a set I’d bought on Amazon. It was a set with several 20g skeins in different colors. Probably imported from China.

I recently came across these yarns again in my box and have been looking ever since to see if similar yarns are available from brand-name manufacturers or in German stores or retail locations. To be precise, I started a project and ran out of the black yarn.




I especially like the feel of these yarns—they’re soft and voluminous and were a joy to crochet with.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a yarn shop with a large selection nearby where I could check them out in person.

Maybe someone is familiar with these yarns and has already found a good alternative.

I’d love any tips! :)

If it’s relevant, it’s labeled “Milk Cotton” and recommended for a 5 mm crochet hook.

According to Google, Milk Cotton is available in stores abroad. Maybe someone knows of an alternative that doesn’t have to be imported.

Try Googling “milk cotton.” Most of the results are actually imports from China. Pro Lana offers “Baby Milk,” but it’s thinner.

@ruthk : Your suggestion gave me the idea to place an order for baby cotton and soft cotton from various brands when I get the chance.

I’m afraid you’ll have to turn to Amazon for exactly this—there are tons of those packages from China there.

Dear crochet friends,

I’ve since found what I was looking for by placing an online order on a hunch. In case anyone else ever has a similar problem, I’d like to share my findings here.

I hope it’s okay to mention brands or yarn types here; if not, feel free to delete this.

“Gründl Lisa Premium Uni” and (almost even better) “Katja Twist” come very close to what I’m looking for.

So now my yarn collection is really bursting at the seams, and for a while I’ll be crocheting without any more shopping :)
