Hello, my dears,
As a complement to the
summer dress, I also sewed a
headscarf. The materials here were again my cotton jersey with the little pears and a piece of pink cuff fabric.
Thanks to the wide cuff, the headscarf is sure to fit well and not slip. The stretchy cuff always helps a garment be worn longer because it grows with the child.
I’m especially proud of the
rolled hem. This was actually the first time I made one. The pros do this with an overlock sewing machine. Since I only have a regular sewing machine, I had to make it work with that. The advantages are: the edge is single-layer, not so thick, nothing can fray, and it ripples, which looks slightly playful.
On the sides, there are small darts on the right and left (see arrow), so that the headscarf sits nicely against the head when worn.
At the back, on the other hand, it is airy, but when worn the pointed end hangs over it anyway, and in windy weather you could also tuck it into the cuff.
And the pattern can also really show itself when worn ...
So, that was the little headscarf. Very easy to sew. I suspect I’ll make a few more of these for the summer. We’ll see what Lisann’s mom says. It mustn’t be too kitschy, after all.
Best wishes, Ina
