Hi everyone, I have the following problem:
I’m supposed to leave 1 stitch on the needle, purl the 2nd stitch through the back loop, then knit both stitches together again. Unfortunately, this is way beyond my skill level—is that a twisted purl stitch?
Or knit 2 stitches together, then purl the 2nd stitch again—I almost get a knot in my needle trying that.
Maybe one of you can help me.
Thanks in advance
I gave it a try, but if you bought the pattern here, it’s best to contact the author through the contact form—she’ll be able to help you best.
I leave the first stitch on the left needle, then purl the next stitch. So far, that works pretty well.
But when I want to knit the two stitches together as if knitting, I have to bring the yarn to the back first, then knit the two stitches together. That way, I end up with one purl stitch and one large knit stitch bent to the right.
What does the wrong side row look like?
Then I could knit a few rows this afternoon to see if it looks the same as yours.
Dear WollwunderPetra,
thank you for your kind reply (I hope it’s okay to use “du”). I’ve already written to the author, but haven’t received a reply.
On the wrong side rows, the stitch should be purled.
I’ve started over so many times already, but I just can’t get it right.
Still, thank you for your help.
Best, Bianca
@bianca-spaniol,
Hi and welcome.
If this is a Crazypatterns author, I can ask the author for you. If the author doesn’t get in touch, support may be able to reach her.
Please give me the link to the pattern, because I don’t know which one you’re referring to right now.
What do you mean by “because it was written that this can’t really be answered here”?
Hi, maybe the idea is to slip the first stitch onto the right needle without knitting it, then knit the second stitch from the back. After that, put both back on the left needle and knit them together? But I think that might make it puff up a bit!
susanne-b3,
thanks for your reply—that’s exactly what I’ve already tried, and it turned out really bulky, if I can put it that way. I’ve been knitting for several years, but I still can’t figure this one out.
Hey there... Does the author perhaps mean the second stitch on the left needle...? In that case, you’d leave the first stitch unworked, knit the second stitch through the back loop (knit), and then knit through both stitches again...
It looks a bit like a cable 😍
Woll-zauberei-Steffi,
thanks for your reply, that’s exactly what I thought too, but for some reason it still isn’t working; I’ve had to rip it out so many times already.
