How do I unravel an industrially knitted jacket?

Every edge stitch on this jacket is knotted, which means I have to thread the ball of yarn through the edge stitch once. Does anyone know this technique? I suspect it’s only used on machines.

Hi Knit Stitch,
if the knitting doesn’t unravel smoothly, you’re unraveling it from the wrong side. Find a thread at the other end of the knitted piece. Knitting machines don’t knot edge stitches—I can assure you of that ;-)
