Last craft project of 2022

What do you have on your needles on the last day of 2022?

For me, it’s… once again, arm warmers. The 12th pair this winter. I’m really enjoying knitting cable patterns right now.

  But now I’m actually knitting some for myself. The pattern is perfect for my pink yarn. Since I’m still limited by illness and we’ll be spending New Year’s Eve at home, I’m very optimistic that I’ll finish them today.

To complete my set, I now have another hat on my needles :-) I’m currently knitting the ribbing—we’ll see how tall I make it.

And I’m working on the grinning frog from the Advent calendar—the head and arms are still missing, but it’ll be finished today.
Tomorrow I’ll start on the thermal blanket.

Veronika, I’m curious about your blanket. How many colors and temperature sections did you decide on? 

I’m following the pattern and have also chosen 5-degree increments, but I’ve combined the most extreme ones so that there are 11 different colors in total.

I made a rough estimate of the amount of yarn needed, but I was completely off the mark at the start—I didn’t expect temperatures to be nearly 20 degrees at the turn of the year!

But 2022 was also a very warm year. So lots of warm tones. 

Yes, I’m happy to let 2023 surprise me. These are all current yarns that are easy to find, so I could easily reorder them if necessary.

I’m knitting a little sweater for the little one. The back is done, and I’ve already finished 1/3 of the front. Maybe I’ll be able to finish it right away once the little one goes to bed with Dad (he’s taking an extra-late nap today 😉).



The front piece is completely covered in the pattern and will have a V-neck

I’m working on the patchwork slippers for my friend in Norway. Even now, with the first pair, one thing is clear: these things can be addictive!

Christina, I’m looking forward to seeing a picture. I once made shoes from granny squares. That was also really fun.

Petra, mine aren’t nearly as intricate—they’re just all knit stitches.



Now the little one has finally let me finish the slipover (I decided against the long-sleeved version…I always think slipovers are very chic 😁).

Those are great colors for a slipover, and a slipover is much better to wear, or rather, not too warm indoors. I really like it.

My wrist warmers are finished too, and I’m already on the hunt for a new pattern.
