Dear Josefa,
thank you so much for asking. I’m almost done. I still need to buy a few fresh groceries and wrap three gifts. The pants I sewed for my youngest granddaughter still need to be washed and ironed. But overall, I’m very pleased with how things are going. The Christmas dinner is as prepared as possible and waiting in the freezer. So everything’s going smoothly and right on schedule.
All set. Even the shopping is done. We’ll put up the tree on Friday. Then on Saturday, the huuuuge family get-together, and starting Saturday, it’s time to relax. Which is exactly what we’ll need. Haha
Yes, Josefa, everything’s under control so far—since I only had two gifts left to wrap, that was done in no time. Only my youngest granddaughter (age 12) and my husband are getting gifts; we’ve done away with gift-giving for the rest of the family. As one of my daughters wrote to me recently: *The best and most beautiful gifts aren’t under the tree—they’re sitting right here at the table.* She’s so right.
The last-minute shopping is done, too—the guests can come; they won’t go hungry 😜😃
I still need to finish a headband—sew it together and weave in ends.
The gifts still need to be wrapped, but the gift bags are all ready to go.
My grandson is coming tomorrow, and then we’ll cut down the Christmas tree—we get it every year from our own garden, from our big pine tree. Then we’ll decorate it together over the next few days.
Our son-in-law is in charge of the meal—so I’m completely relaxed about that, too.
Yes, Inge, I can only agree with your daughter on that. I sent out cards this year saying that it doesn’t matter what a tree looks like or what’s underneath it. What matters is who’s standing with me around our tree.
Everything’s pretty much ready here; I’m just going to pick up a few fresh items on Friday. But even that won’t be a big deal—out here on the outskirts of town, it’s always very laid-back. We used to live right in the city center—it was a nightmare there, with endless crowds, everyone in a bad mood, and a very un-Christmassy atmosphere.
I didn’t have many gifts to wrap either; these days, only “the kids” get something—my niece and her husband. They’re grown-ups, but still “the kids”... 😉
