Christmas in Different Countries

Would you like to share some stories about Christmas / Christmas traditions in different countries?

I’ll bump this up.

We actually always spent Christmas at home. Only once, when I was a teenager, did I spend Christmas in Manchester. Back then (in the ’70s), I found the British Christmas atmosphere much, much more extravagant than back home. Everything was much more colorful, almost over-the-top. Not just in the stores, but in people’s homes as well.
There was a 9-year-old boy living with my host family who received mountains of presents, all piled under the huge tree—even back then, I thought that was an overwhelming amount, surely 50 or 60 packages just for that one child!
As for the festivities, it was similar to how we celebrate here: the families sat together for dinner; there was turkey, followed by plum pudding—which, of course, we didn’t have back home.

50 or 60 packages? Wow

Yes, there were mountains—really extreme ones.
