Balaclava / Ski Hat / Balaclava Hat

Dear users, dear designers,
it looks like balaclavas / ski hats / balaclava hats are in this season. Do you like that or not really?

How about a scoodie / hooded scarf?

I’m not a big fan of balaclavas—I hated them even as a kid. But I always think scoodies and hooded scarves are nice. 

I love scarf hats for my kids.
I never had one myself and always envied a certain classmate in elementary school who had them.
I crochet or knit them myself.

I knitted a balaclava for my nephew last year, “on commission” from my sister.
  I used to have one myself—I have no idea where it went—for work/training with the 🐕. It was a long time ago, and we still had real winter back then 🙈—it was definitely a plus when the wind would whistle across the field, freezing cold as it was...
but just because they’re “back in style,” I wouldn’t go knitting one for myself now. 

Ugh, no way—balaclavas and the like aren’t for me. I don’t like having anything on my head to begin with, but I like having something tight around my neck even less. Both together would be my worst nightmare.
When it’s really freezing cold, a loosely wrapped scarf and/or a loose hood should be enough.

At my daughter’s request, I knitted this hat for our grandson many years ago. He loved it. My daughter thought it was practical that everything was always nicely covered by the hat.
