is a knitted cape like this suitable for everyday wear, or would you wear one?
What are tops with these little armholes actually called?

Knitting pattern for the Bjille Shoulder Cape with Hood

Since I’m often out and about with a backpack, pieces like this are rather impractical for me.

Isn’t that just the shoulder part—the section above the arms? And a cape underneath?
I have no idea—it seems a bit impractical to me too, but I still have this one on my wish list:

I don’t think it’s bad. But it’s definitely not for people who carry backpacks.

Yes, there are two different garments in the picture.
So the one on the bottom is a poncho?

As pretty and relaxed as the model looks at me from her beach chair, this cape wouldn’t be for me. What good is a hood if the rest of it only reaches over the shoulders? Then you’d have to—like her—layer several pieces on top of each other to stay warm. But her arms are sticking out of the poncho anyway, so they’d probably get cold. That light little blouse doesn’t block the wind. And those red leather gloves??? Who on earth came up with that? For me, this isn’t suitable for everyday wear.

I can only agree with Ina's opinion. If I also have to wear a jacket over it for my arms, that's too many layers on top of each other for me.
I'd rather wear a thick, cozy, hand-knitted jacket with a hood.
