Halloween—Sewing a Pirate Hat

Grandma, I have a question...

Whenever our grandson starts a visit like this, I already know he wants to know if I happen to have this or that in the basement or if I could make him something by hand.

This time, he asked if I could help him with a pirate costume. He wanted a pirate hat, a white shirt, and a sleeveless jacket.

  I found the shirt and jacket right away—I still had his uncle’s First Communion outfit in the closet—just a reminder: I never throw anything away.

And the hat—well, I sewed that for him out of black felt. 

WOW, that hat turned out amazing, Petra!!! The child’s eyes were beaming. :-)

Yeah, Petra, you really did a great job on that. I don’t usually like skulls, but the one you sewed on there actually looks almost cute...

A skull belongs on a pirate hat. What I find even worse is that mask he’s wearing. 🙈

Awesome!!! My youngest would love that too—he’s a huge pirate fan!!
